And don't forget the K's! These guys have the schtick down. The video reminds me of that Deströyer 666 from two years ago though not quite as over the top. I'll say one thing about them they sure know how to conclude a song! The final minute of this is grand. The Blakk Krusader, by Bütcher Note those K's!
I bought the album. It's just too much campy fun to not have. I figure misspelled banned words still count so I won't bother testing that: link.
Actually I got suckered by that opening track. After that I quickly lost the plot. I'll have to check the Mournful Down Unders when home.
Finally (!) finishing my (alphabetic album) DarkThrone discography binge. I have to say, I actually enjoyed them a LOT more than I thought I would. They have some pretty cool stuff mixed in with all the "meh" stuff. Overall, not really my bag (too primitive and lo-fi for the most part) but worth listening to. I will definitely revisit some of it.
They sure are real Down! What's a Monad? A contraction for moaning gonad? The Moaning Gonad of Creation. Makes sense. All of my fav DT songs are from their later years when they're just a kickass rock band who don't seem to have a care about fashion or expectations. You can play this at my funeral. Do so and I won't climb out of the box and chase people. No promises though.
I hadn't looked at this site in an age and when I did this interview with band "1914" caught my eye right away. (((O))) INTERVIEW: 1914: METAL AND THE HORROR OF WAR FROM UKRAINE It was a relief that they're "100% non-political". I wasn't going to get suckered two days in a row so I listened to the album twice (proper vetting). Death, Doom and Black Metal are all in here with prog bridging things together. A noble undertaking this album about WWI, I wish it was a 10/10 but it's not. A 7 maybe? For 'name your price' cost I bought it. Eschatology of War, by 1914
Put me down also. It hurts to imagine if the recent gems from Iceland were sonically dumbed down. Regarding 1914, when I read the interview without having heard them I expected some really raw BM and was surprised yet pleased at how traditional they were. I wondered if I was too generous with the 7/10 for the album but after the nightly brain reboot I liked them more this morning. The only thing that seems off is individual songs seem incomplete like three legged chairs but I think that's from it being harnessed with the concept album format. For example the very good song #5 with the slightly frustrating fade-out. They've also put out the odd single or EP over the last year.
Got the new Summoning in the mail today. No real surprises... same old Tolkien-obsessed, keyboard-heavy black metal I know and love.
I watch the spinning disc of Mesmermorono. I watch and listen to the spinning disc of Mystic Massacre. I like it.
For me DEATH, but I do like a lot of bm, especially the atmospheric stuff. It's very hard on my wallet.
How many Hooded Menace shirts does he have?!?! I enjoyed his review, I need to check out some more of his stuff.
