Certainly not pro-shot film footage of a more or less complete concert!

Was there any overdubbing done on Break On Through (from the box set) or When The Music's Over (from the Message To Love cd)?

Do we expect any overdubbing here?

Someone who saw the concert cine premiere in Paris? I read that there are no shots of the group during RhB and SOF.

What you describe would be typical of Murray Lerner's work. His camera was always running out of film, and he didn't provide for the event to be covered by other cameras while he switched reels. There are ways to do it with two cameras or three cameras so that while one camera is being reloaded the others are filming. We're talking about 16mm film, not video. Lerner could talk for hours about his philosophy but when it came to the simple mechanics of coordinating a live shoot he didn't have a clue. He was always in the right place at the right time but his coverage was sporadic and his own camerawork stunk. He didn't know enough about exposure to shoot at night, and he didn't coordinate lighting with the stage to make sure there was enough light for the camera to see what's going on. That's what I take away from studying his films.

I haven't seen The Doors at the Isle of Wight yet, but I've no reason to think it will be any different than the rest of Murray Lerner's work.

i was at the doors iow set and what i remember mostly is that the stage seemed to be in semi darkness
and that morrison barely moved;i presumed he was playing safe with the trial on the horizon
i was 17 and thought he going to be jumping all over the place
    but to no avail

He means a bit of retouching from other sources like they did with HB surely.. which is lame enough btw but modern overdubs lel

iTunes has Break on Through available for IOW. Sounds amazing. Really clean.

Not sure, but IIRC, Robby overdubbed some contemporary guitar parts onto Break On Through for the 1997 Box Set. Not sure if those are intact here, or if the band is flying in vintage samples from other 1970's era sources to tidy up the IOW performances, but either way, it is not ideal.

Is the version on the box set the same as what was used on When You're Strange? I compared them a while ago and I don't recall any differences but another opinion wouldn't hurt.

Break on Through is on Spotify. It sounds pretty good. Lots of added audience, though.

Only at the beginning and end where it should be. Let’s not get dramatic here.

Its ok .i have no problem with that. I dont like the music mix.its done like a studio sound.Maybe I'm familiar with the sound of the bootleg. In any case i think is really a historical release and look forward to see and hear it.

If there are overdubs, it would be nice if the advertising referred to them. Same if there are any complete songs for which!there is no footage of the group.

Can’t say this is shaping up all that well - letterboxed and overdubbed, as well as no footage for some songs?

Let’s not release then. What’s the point? Let it just sit in the vault. Brilliant.

Or release it without the overdubs or cropping out picture.
