There is also a unreleased cover of Clarence Carter's
"Take It Off Him (And Put It On Me)" recorded at Baggy's.
I wish it had been released on the Dagger release. Instead
they included two versions of "Burning Desire" and "Earth
Blues". If there are technical problems or the the song is
incomplete, it will probably never get a mainstream
    release.

Buddy released a version on his 1971 live album. Starts
    around the 4:30 mark.

The guitar by Charlie Karp at 7:40 sounds Hendrix-like.

Other songs recorded at the rehearsals that have not been
released (offically and unofficially) are "Stop", "Machine
Gun", "Stepping Stone" and "Come On (Let The Good Times
    Roll)".

Id love to hear good times roll. Jimi did some incredible live intros for that track.

Certainly seems to be a lot of BOG material either out of print, incomplete (shows) or uncirculated. Hopefully theres some in the future.

  3. Just upthread the link was given to "Machine Gun" from the Baggy sessions, released online only from EH.

That one slipped my mind. As someone posted earlier,
that has been on the EH site forever. I think you needed
RealPlayer to listen to it at first.

All of the unreleased material is said to be from a session dated the 20th while the other material is from the 18th and 19th. I don't think the 20th session was available at the time of release of the Dagger set so not a case of a possible release of any of it "instead".

But we do have something to look forward to for another Dagger?!?

Ive never bought into the black gold hype. If it is any good surely it would've seen the light of day by now.

We could list plenty of Dagger sets and why stop at audio only? :righton:

Yes. The December 20 tape is said to have "surfaced in
recent years" in Ultimate Hendrix which was published
    in 2009.

I would gladly buy an updated version of the book if it
had information on tracks released by EH that were not
mentioned in the original edition. Even, more info on
    the sessions previously disclosed.

There are also some discrepancies in dates from the book
and liner notes on released songs.

Ultimate Hendrix says "12 Bar With Horns" was recorded
on February 26, 1969. The notes on the CD single say
February 22. The CD single came out a year after the
book. Did they get new info on the recording date or
is one of those a dates a misprint.

  12. See, I've never bought into the opposite, since we know there are great songs that still haven't seen the light of day. Finally we're going to get the version of "Cherokee Mist" in 2018. "The Things I Used to Do" in full, we assume, and also, presumably, a quality version of "Send My Love To Linda." All 48 years after his death. I mean, just saying.

How long did it take for the superior Hendrix/Kramer mix of "In From The Storm" to be officially released? 40 years?

I know what you're saying, though, but Black Gold does have previously unheard ideas for songs. Actual songs. And even if he flubs notes, or sings out of key, or farts into the sound hole (yeah, like you said), it's always the dream of most hardcore Hendrix fans to think about what could have been. That's what Black Gold represents. Even if it's for 2 seconds. ;)

If "Suddenly November Morning" is any indication, "Black Gold" could contain quite a bit of intriguing and exciting music. The fact the EH hasn't released it likely has nothing to do with a lack of quality.

As much as I love Hendrix, the last thing I bought was Nine To The Universe (I have 2 copies) and recently "Blues" on vinyl (which are outstanding pressings).
Not really interested in this latest "stuff". Wonder what Jimi would have thought of these releases of "his"...

I wasn't a English major in college. But, the syntax of the
    review is terrible.

This is literally the first sentence. That's right sentence. Not a
paragraph. A 60 word sentence with over half a dozen commas.

There are several more examples of that kind of writing style
    in the review.

  20. Was the review written by a 7 year old? I gave up after struggling to find a single complete, punctuated sentence with proper grammar anywhere.

  21. Regardless of the grammar, the content and song description he provided was pretty thin and not worth much attention.

Honestly, those are probably more vital than the trilogy. When I'm putting together my "trilogy box set" playlist, I'm definitely adding some of the shorter tracks in from these albums. Trashman and Room Full of Mirrors from HHM and the title track from BD are key tracks.

Just one listener's general impressions. Then again it is "It's Psychedelic Baby", his description of Stepping Stone is both right and wrong at the same time, so I don't know what I'm going to hear.

"...I'm glad they rolled through my head."

Except if you look at some of the dog**** lousy stuff they've put out already, there's no reason why Black Gold shouldn't have been released by now.

I think the problem is Black Gold isn't as readily accessible for release piecemeal as are other sessions. It's unique in that it's Hendrix sketching ideas and songs into a framework or song cycle or rock opera, whatever you may want to call it - so the best way to hear it is in it's entirety where we can see the overall structure and ambition of the piece. Releasing a two or three minute song excerpt will be underwhelming for that reason. It would make a perfect Dagger release.
