What is your favorite 1970's warm, "feel-good", sitting-by-the-fireplace type of song or album, such as Carole King's "So Far Away" (or Tapestry album), James Taylor "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight" or this one from Stevie Wonder:

Or these 2 from Barry Manilow's 2nd album:

    Home Again
    Barry Manilow: "Early Morning Strangers"

    Or Steely Dan "FM"
Steely Dan FM Soundtrack LP Recording

BTW, I noticed that that special sound is often lost when it's remastered or put on CD, etc. Always has that sound on the original vinyl only, in my opinion

Yeah, that's the problem with the '70s...there were a million more... It's like rock "took a break" on American radio, so all our girlfriends could discover Cat Stevens...

It has that particular warm, smoky 70's feeling that I enjoy very much. The guitar sound especially, a lot of albums circa 1974-75 have that sound.

I assume "feel good" can involve some sweet creamy melancholy as well, in which case let me tip my hat to the always rapturously sad "Please Come to Boston" by Dave Loggins.

For some reason, the Carpenters come to mind.

Is '79 still the seventies? This is a song that's like a nice hot bath.

Edit: Maybe 'At seventeen' fits the bill even better.
