So I printed a label today for a regular CD. I always chose 8 oz since the price was $2.77 up to that weight. Well today I chose 8 oz, and the price is $3.18. I lowered the weight to 6 oz, and it was $2.92 (still higher so obviously some increases kicked in).

Also I tested an international package for 8 oz to England, and it was $13.50 in the past, but it is $14 today. :realmad:

International will remain at $14 even if you drop the weight to 6 oz by the way.

Was anyone else aware of these changes?

The US post office put most of us overseas people off buying anything from the States years ago, it was great while reasonable pricing lasted, but trying to make up their pension deficit by upping overseas shipping so much must really have reduced their workload.

    Rates went up January 21st.

First class package service retail starts at $3.50 now, up from $3.00.

Yup went into effect January 21.

PayPal and Amazon FCM start at $2.63 for 4 oz. So avoid the noid at the 'window'.

I don't do International. Items get all banged up and there is no tracking once it leaves the USA.

I just started trading cd's online again for the first time in 8 years. I about had a heart attack when I took four discs in to be sent first class. $3.50-$3.75 apiece for a grand total of $14.50! Pretty much defeats the purpose of trading cheap cd's when it costs that much to mail them.

I guess I won't have any other choice, even though I hate sending cd's through media mail.

It's exactly the same, if you're talking about Media Mail.

Congratulations on the U.S. Postal Service for continuing to be able to do what no other private company is required to do: fund all their empoyees pension funds in advance...thanks to laws made to deliberately hamstring them so the public will lose faith in them.

Now, be an American, and buy dem damn stamps! Even if you never mail anything!

Also, while you're at it, subscribe to your local paper, to help fund local investigative journalism.

And, you're on my lawn...! -s'cuze me a second, I gotta go yell at that cloud over there...

Look like you're right. It's pretty confusing sometimes figuring out what the post office charges for everything.

Do you have to have special labels, or can you just print to paper and tape to package?

I just print them out and tape them like you said. Pretty easy. I'm not so sure that it's cheaper. I was looking at the wrong price table. It beats waiting in line though.

This why I hate post office always pushing Priority mail on me and
ebay sellers. Media mail is dirty secret..
I got a box set of dvd through media mail for $7.00
and there very heavy.. Yes what I think needs to happen
to the post office make file for bankruptcy. under current president start
all over.. and not over charging the customer..
on everything when I first start using ebay back 2001 priorty mail was $3.00 starting
and for cds was $1.78 jeeze now uber greed.

Welcome to privately owned corporate greedy bastards world. Up here they out and out discontinued our light packet service globally that was the same as your "media mail" that we used to so much enjoy and made media selling easy and affordable.
