That was my first thought. Walter Hill's inspiration was obvious.

Hell yes! I think we can all agree on that!
    Dang that cartoon schmaltz.

I have the DVD of the original cut. I refuse to buy or even watch the Director’s Cut after what I’ve read about it.

Good choice. We ain't joking about how it has ruined the movie in many ways. The film restoration is stunning, but the cartoons just make it silly.

I believe Hill's first film was HARD TIMES in 1975. Charles Bronson and James Coburn starred. The movie had a gritty, tough feel to it. Much like THE WARRIORS.

I always had a feeling the scene with Mia's lips and a mic, and later a turntable in Pulp Fiction was a reference to The Warriors.

Looking at reviews on Amazon.es for this Spanish Blu Ray it appears it's the Ultimate Director's Cut even though it's not mentioned on the case. :shake:

I remember when this came out at the cinema in Edinburgh. It was the school holidays and my Mum gave me money to take my 12 year old sister and her mate to see Watership Down. When we got there, I snuck them into The Warriors instead and made them swear not to tell the parents.

I would play the soundtrack version to Eagles worshippers in college. Almost to a man, they all agreed my version was better.

  14. The animation doesn't bother me. It's only a few seconds and only happens a handful of times. Shrug.

I'll say that the Bluray quality is stunning. But they really messed up the final scene - the walk down the beach - by freezing the picture into a dang cartoon.
This is a gritty movie. I can't help but dislike the cartoon-additions.

So the animation-free print is on You Tube (per @sami 's post). Strange world I'm living in now. Sure would've loved an untouched Blu-ray. With lossless audio too.

There used to be a pop culture program on public radio here and they sampled "The Baseball Furies dropped the ball" bit in the intro. To me that's the most familiar quote from the film.

This was a late night cable staple around 79/80 when I was about 10 ,one of my favorite movies.I remember staying up late to watch it and sometimes the sun would be coming up as dawn broke in the movie.

My 'three' were The Warriors, The Wanderers and Assault on Precinct 13. I've not seen the Wanderers for a while (need to get that) but the other two hold up really well, both would be in my top 100.

It's odd as all three are I suppose about gangs and fighting to some extent, but I'm not a violent person. Was never into horror much but loved these type of films.

Assault only cost $100,000 to make which is insane as it looks brilliant.
