A band called Immigrant Union put out an excellent album called Anyway a couple years ago. Described as an Australian psychedelic folk/country band. singer was in the Dandy Warhols(not an Aussie), Courtney Barnett on guitar.
Great kiwi band. april sun in cuba, still in love with you, are you old enough, this time, get that jive, rain .... great band
We do have a similar station in Perth RTR FM. Community radio stations do provide a very much improved listening experience to the commercial stations, however, they are hampered by their format of shows by genre in specific timeslots that don't often fit into your lifestyle.
I'm assuming bands like Celibate Rifles and Lime Spiders are considered more known Australian musical artists, so I will present this: The Monarchs from their album "Make Yer Own Fun". Every song is a winner:
Probably a more popular Aussie band, but it's a hit, it's a bang, it's a smash! Lipstick Killers - "Hindu Gods Of Love"
ok, here's an actual lesser known band. One of my favorites from down under: Mustang: "Intergalactic Sinners"
If Australia was the only country that could produce music, I would be ok with that. Asteroid B612: "I Just Don't Know About Girls"
For got to add to my initial post, not lesser know but still.....Daevid Allen, just a wonderful human being. Oh and lets not forget Stefan dennis from neighbours....
They're stopping that from happening though. Like with the new Northbridge Link etc, theyre making tenants sign a covenant stating that they know its a nightlife/entertainment district that theyre moving into. Builders are required to be more pro-active with sound-proofing etc. Perth is growing up about those things. The city is changing all the time, but whats not changing is that great new music is always coming up.
