After many tries of attempting to like this album, it has finally clicked with me. Brilliant album. Some poor songs but mostly quite good. I’m not sure which is my favourite. Some are pretty close in quality. I think I’ll go with I Don’t Live Today. But it could be tied with a few more. I have no doubt Purple Haze will win, and perhaps Foxey Lady second?

I combined the U.K. and U.S. versions of the album, as iTunes does too.

“May This Be Love”, “Hey Joe”, “Wind Cries Mary”, “Purple Haze”, so many I could pick. I went with “Manic Depression”.

One of the greatest debuts of all time, or of any time.

  6. It's got to be "Third Stone From the Sun." Followed closely by the title track.

It's always amazed me how Hendrix came up with so much, so fast, to produce an album of such magnitude, as if he had been writing songs for ages. But no, he was only getting started.

I’m surprised Third Stine is so high. I would’ve put it second I think

    Are You Experienced, for me.

"Manic Depression" is the biggest and nastiest monster track on an album containing many other big-and-nasty-but-slightly-less-monster tracks.

    And, it's in WALTZ TIME!!!

I wish he'd have tried it out onstage with the Band Of Gypsys during their Fillmore East shows. That could have been one for the ages

Voted Mary but it could have been Depression. Or is it Mary on the US album and Depression on the UK one?

Wow, Purple Haze isn't leading by a ton? I'm really surprised. I thought it was one of those tracks on an album that are usually a clear winner among friends, even when surrounded by awesome material.

As wonderful as many of the songs are that showcase Hendrix's enormous talents, for me he has always shined when he's understated. So my vote: “Wind Cries Mary”.

Personally, Manic Depression would be a better song if it were an instrumental, otherwise it's only okay to me.

I think Purple Haze is overrated. I'd also take The Wind Cries Mary, Manic Depression and Hey Joe over it.

Also Stone Free. I never counted that as part of the album, as I've always had the U.S. version.

It has to be the title track for me, Third Stone would be my second choice. Can't go along with any inclusion from the US version..

I went for the title track as it's just such a perfect encapsulation of Hendrix in 1967.

But I also love Manic Depression. The version on Winterland has long been a favourite, wilder than the studio version and that guitar solo ....
