    And Martine Beswick.

My wife isn't going to be pleased but I'm thinking I'll re-watch the whole series. That James Bond mood grabs me every few years.

Would there be any interest in a Bond film-by-film thread?

OHMSS is a really unorthodox movie, most of it taking place in that space chalet. Really out of character for this franchise, though I enjoyed it.

Have you seen the Bond documentary - Everything or Nothing?

Pretty eye opening - esp for OHMSS and how George Lazenby pulled off getting the role.

And why he lost the role.

Very very close for me between Casino Royale and Goldfinger, I think those 2 are ahead of the chasing pack.

At the moment I would have to go with Casino Royale, a stunning debut for Mr Craig.

It's a tough question, but it's between Goldfinger, From Russia With Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, The Spy Who Loved Me, Casino Royal and Spectre. I ended up choosing The Spy Who Loved me, but tomorrow it could be any one of the other 5.

Moonraker! My mother took me to see that, we were poor and seldom did that stuff ( my siblings took me), haven’t seen mom since I was twelve but that’s not the reason, the reason was I was blown away by the epic nature of the movie in my young eyes and the badassness of bond. jaws! Forget about it I was hooked. Moore was my bond as a child

    DC:CR out of the equation.

The only one I ever liked was License To Kill. Timothy Dalton was the only James Bond I ever liked. Then again I don't consider myself a big fan. My parents loved them so I ended up seeing most of them at one time or another.

The first Bond film I ever saw (in fact the first film I ever saw at a cinema) was Live And Let Die in 1973. So, Roger Moore was the first 'Bond' I ever saw. However, the best Bond for me is Connery and those early films up until Diamonds Are Forever (including the Lazenby On Her Majesty's......) are the high watermark of the Bond cannon. I think my favourite has to be From Russia With Love, it's quite Hitchcockian and seems slightly removed and darker than the rest in the series. And the fight on the train with Robert Shaw is classic Bond.

Hard to pick between Dr. No and Goldfinger for me. I think Goldfinger is a better movie and probably the best of the Sean Connery series, but Dr. No is just so much fun to watch and of course there's Ursula. Those early movies captured Bond's ruthlessness and complex misogyny that were very much a part of his character in the books. I think Daniel Craig is the first Bond since to tap into that darker aspect of the character.

Gotta go with Goldfinger. The franchise wasn’t exhausted yet and it has all the elements of a real Bond movie.

Plus Sean Connery was in it, the real Bond to those of us who can remember when the original films were first released.

I've been digging into the Bond series recently, and so far my favorite is The Living Daylights. Timothy Dalton is a good Bond IMO; I like that he's more serious than earlier Bonds, but not quite as serious as Daniel Craig. Most Bond movies start to sag at some point during the movie, typically either when Bond is meandering around flirting or when he has infiltrated or been captured and spends a lot of time sitting around and talking. The Living Daylights never does that; It's thrilling action and adventure all the way through without ever overdoing it. This is also one of the only Bond movies that has made me actually care about the drama side of the plot. This is probably because it has one of the more likable and interesting Bond girls, one that isn't just a sex object with a double entendre for a name. I also really like the globe-trotting, Indiana Jones-like nature of the plot and the more realistic villain that is more like someone out of a political thriller than some rich psychopath trying to end the world.

All that being said, I still haven't seen the vast majority of Bond films (I haven't seen a single Roger Moore film as of this post), so my choice is subject to change. I can see why some people may see this film as a betrayal of what Bond was supposed to be about, but for me, this film fixed all the problems I had with the franchise as a whole, without being too much of an overhaul of the classic formula.

I liked The Living Daylights. It was certainly less of a cartoon than Moore's bond films had become.

I bought the Blu-Ray Box Set(50th Anniversary) before Skyfall came out, as used to watch the movie marathons over the December Holidays between Christmas & New Years Day(think on Spike or TNT). I voted 'The Man with the Golden Gun'(the one movie that I would rewatch most years on those Bond Marathons on Spike or TNT). Although considered 'Goldfinger' and 'Casino Royale'. Also like 'A View to a Kill' just based on Christopher Walken as the Villain in that movie. Actually like Craig the most as Bond. I would love to see Idris Elba(spelling?) get a shot at being the next Bond. Also, possibly Charlie Hunam(or he might make a better Indiana Jones after his role in 'The Lost City of Z' as an explorer in the Amazon based on the true story).
