Was Deja Vu really a critical failure? I was born years after it's release, discovered it through my dad's collection, and it's my favorite album from CSNY. I guess I can't understand why anyone would dislike the album.

    As for my picks.

    Oasis - Be Here Now
The album opener D'You Know What I Mean? is one of my favorite album openers.

    Smashing Pumpkins - Adore
My favorite Pumpkins album. I love what Corgan did with the production.

    Eric Clapton - Pilgrim
The first Clapton album I ever purchased, and possibly still my favorite of his.

This , for me, is hard to answer because a lot of old albums were panned by critics when they were released are now considered very good or even great.

    Paul is not gay.

Adam and Freddie are both gay and had flamboyant stage presence.

Kylie Minogue ~ X. It's her most consistent album and 2 Hearts and In Your Arms are classic Kylie singles

I'll also add Van Halen's Diver Down to my list. I never thought the album was that bad, and I love all the cover versions. If anything, I think the album could improve with a revised track listing. But I'm sure that's just me.

Yeah, the critics hated Deja Vu at the time, especially the original Rolling Stone review that basically said the music and even the cover picture/design were all trying to be "authentic" but was just phony. I don't think they are too keen on it even today believe it or not. Can't understand that at all, it is a great album

  15. tP&tG was lambasted upon release?! Amazing!

I knew about Giant For A Day for sure... Which is an album I have at least a bit of love for BTW... It's not "proprer" Gentle Giant certainly, but it's still a very tuneful pop collection. Derek Shulman is such a fine singer... He makes me forget they'd sold-out!

I think it speaks volumes of how good ELP were and how some folks get a little too caught up in image/album art. Some of their peers output around this time, isn't any better.

Given the circumstances in which they recorded it, an all-time low where the guys were hardly a band anymore, compared to most albums their contemporaries (and even younger bands - "Dirty Work" sounds more organic than The Clash's "Cut the Crap") put out in 1985/86, it's quite good. I think many people let the artwork COLOUR their opinion about it. I think "One Hit" or "Dirty Work" (the song) would be seen much more favourably had they been used on another album.

    "Windows and Walls".

After the critical and commercial success of Dan Fogelberg's magnum opus, the impressive double album "The Innocent Age", his next album
"Windows and Walls" received mixed to unfavorable reviews. It still did well, featuring the (Rock) hit single The Language of Love, the aching and affecting title track, and the cinematic masterpiece Tuscon, Arizona.

Yesterday's "nadir" is sometimes tomorrow's "critical favorite." As an example I offer Lou Reed's Berlin and Metal Machine Music.

Wasn't Bat Out Of Hell critically destroyed in the 70s? It's one of the best albums of all time.

Wonderful songs, hugely underrated film. I love its cynicism and emphasis on screwing over finding love
