Not sure why I never had this before but saw it in the Cafe Oto racks the other night after listening to Black Top and Peter Evans. I noticed that some Derek Bailey is being reissued on vinyl - I picked up Royal with Anthony Braxton, and Solo Guitar Vol 1. They also had Live At Verity's Place with Han Bennink but that's for next time if it's still there.
Okay, so I both liked this, and I'm not yet fit to truly pass comment. It has two pieces, Gay G. and Evil N. However, this one is sort of a remix, where they've added some electronic manipulations along the way. It feels good. My reservation is that the initial introduction of the electronics seriously fails. Like it was spliced in with a chainsaw. It soon evens out and becomes more subtle, and blends much better. I'm glad to have it, but hesitate to call it essential. That said, there aren't many discs of Eastman music around - shame this one was (relatively) pricey.
Camille Norment - Toll I discovered Camille Norment due to her playing on the Celadon album that was released on the Important label in 2015. Toll was recorded a few years prior and features Norment on glass harmonica in a trio that includes guitar and hardingfele. Really beautiful music.

Although Annette Peacock was mentioned a few times earlier, it concerned her 70s albums which seem to me more 70s prog as she collaborated with Bruford and his circle. Her avant garde albums IMO start with Sky Skating and Been Out On The Streets Too Long on the aptly named Ironic Records and go through An Acrobat's Heart on ECM.
My top 20 classical releases from last year. I've highlighted the ones that fit this thread, which is all of them except the Bach transcriptions for marimba and the Barbara Hannigan. Picked this up yesterday so only a single play so far. Only criticism is that it's a bit short - 31 minutes! Sounds good though.
As far as I know Bruford appeared on X-Dreams with a couple of other drummers, and an old track on the Been On The Streets Too Long album. I know she sang on three tracks on Bruford's Feels Good To Me but that's hardly a prog album. This from the OP seems to get Annette Peacock down to a tee...un-classifiable. Sometimes though, you've got something on that just may not fit the bill, where the question of genre even escapes you: "Yeah, I guess that's not jazz", or maybe it's some far out rock that escapes definition.
Re: Peacock, I was just trying to note the sharp difference between her 70s albums which are some flavor of jazz rock hybrid unique to her compared with her noticeably more avant garde albums in the 80s to 2000s.
