It's already in surround sound. Listen in Dolby Pro-Logic II.

If their ever was a album that was made for surround it's Electric Ladyland. Did Noel Redding play any bass on ELL or was it all Jimi except for Jack Casady?

"And I’m not sure many people know, but he played all the bass lines on the album and other instruments. " Janie

Not true. Noel did play bass on it as well.

Experienced and Axis are coming in July in Hybrid Stereo SACD from Analogue Productions mastered by Bernie Grundman.

To each his own. I would think they will sound much better than the 1997 product.

No thanks, I'll keep listening to my minty 1968 release which I bought the day the album was released and listening to it in my bedroom with my head between my AR 2AX speakers and getting my mind blown when I was 16.

The wiki list has it right: Noel is on "Crosstown Traffic", "Little Miss Strange", "Come On (Let the Good Times Roll)", "Burning of the Midnight Lamp", and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)". Jack is on "Voodoo Chile", there's no bass on "Rainy/Still Raining" and Jimi does bass on the rest. So for the main recording sessions March-August, Noel played on three tracks, one that was his own.

Electric Ladyland has to be the holy grail of most most wanted surround discs.

The sound of the album is just so magnificent. You can feel the air moving from the sound. What this album has in sound signature is how I expected anything post this to sound. All the post stuff sounds thin like it was never meant to be.

These are going to include the original MONO mixes alongside the stereo! I'd by far rather have those than new 5.1 mixes, personally.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience-Axis Bold As Love-Hybrid Stereo SACD|Acoustic Sounds

I wonder...if there is indeed a 50th anniversary edition of Ladyland in the works, could this be why AP doesn't yet seem to have that one scheduled along with the other two?

If they don't do something for Electric Ladyland's 50th Anniversary, there's always a chance they will do it for the 51st Anniversary!

    51st anniversary

For fifty years they've kept us waiting
And they can't wait for their fifty first to roll around
    Yeah, roll around
A thirty years we've been waiting
And now we're old and unhappy and won't settle down
    Won't settle down yeah!
At Twenty years we were hoping
That they would do something special for such a classic release
You know we're not havin' fun

And then you come along and talk about

So you say you wanna 50th Anniversary Electric Ladyland
I'm not gonna change your mind
    Oh got to change
That was the good side baby
    Here comes the bad side.....

Why set such a low bar? If they dont sound
Better than the the 97s they will officially be the worst digital Jimi ever. I am hoping these are truly definitive versions or at the very least they are the best digital releases to date. I have been impressed with SACD so far and in fact I think the Machine Gun release on SACD sounds better than the vinyl.
