Anybody else noticed that the first three Wire LPs are up for release on Amazon! Hurrah, love Pink Flag especially. June release date.

Cool, they're not showing in the US yet. Hope we get some detail soon on who's in charge of these!
EDIT: I noticed in the description it says "The vinyl releases have the same covers and inners as the originals (minus the Harvest logo)". Sounds like we'll still be missing out on vinyl reissues with the Harvest labels which is a shame

They are also up at Bullmoose. Does anyone know the sources?

I have to admit, even though I have these on vinyl (and CD) already, I'm excited that they're re-releasing these.
    I even wept a little!

Don't forget the 9 x 7" box set that is coming out on RSD. Limited to 1000 (or 1500) copies, I believe.

I have originals of the vinyl, but the cd box sets with all the extras look like must buys.

I hope they include the bonus EP with 154. Going by the article it seems they are only including it in the singles box set. I hope not as I already have the essential Wire singles.

That original "bonus" 7" that appeared in initial copies of 154 will be included in the 9 x 7" box set. My guess is that it will not be included with the reissued vinyl LP version (though I'd also guess that those tracks will be included in the deluxe 3 x CD set of 154; all three of the deluxe sets for their first three albums will be mandatory purchases for me.)

I'm thinking it won't be aswell. I've never heard 154. I've been hoping an affordable one with the EP will show up somewhere for years. I'd be happy with a quality reissue including the EP.

Prepare to hear where a stack of multi-millionare househould names got a lot of their ideas from.

Rather like hearing Neu! for the first time.

    Or something.

This is one rsd release I'm certainly interested in acquiring.

I hope Wire get some non RSD renewed attention too. They’re highly regarded already, but the more people discover them the better :)

Especially IMO the truly brilliant 154, such an important, “timeless” album from such a great band.

I see Bruce Gilbert has re-emerged with his first solo album in almost 10yrs

The Quietus | News | LISTEN: New Bruce Gilbert

Always interesting. Saw a picture of him on Twitter and he has long hair now. Looks strange on him as he was always quite severe looking with short cropped hair in Wire.

So true - First time I heard Neu - basically 6 years ago, I couldn't believe it, albums like the Stone Roses debut are simple cover versions!

:) I've never heard all of the Stone Roses album, but for a really good Neu! cover that isn't a cover, check out Sonic Youth's later era classic "New Hampshire". It's basically Neu! with Thurston Moore singing on it, but so what, it's great. Whereas with Wire, personally I don't like any of the bands I think "copied" them, that I've heard.

Super bummed this is a RSD release, as I'd be interested in it. I just don't do RSD because I don't like dealing with the crowds, and this release is probably going be grabbed up pretty quickly at any shops that have it.

Is it safe to assume that the reissues of the first three albums will be subject to Colin Newman's dreadful mastering treatment (i.e., loud, bassy, harsh, etc.)?

I might be interested in Chairs Missing as my old vinyl copy of that isn't in the greatest shape.
