No ideas why this is newsworthy. Aren't episodes already available for streaming on multiple services like Hulu and Amazon?

It's on TV for free. Not everyone subscribes to a streaming service.

True but that sure sounds like a niche channel.

I liked the episode where Tim is super charming to his wife's friends but is anything but when alone with her.

A channel about comedy has a sitcom on it- imagine that. :)

Exactly why this thread isn't exactly newsworthy. :D

Then um, feel free not to watch it, then.

Isn't it still on in a lot of local markets though? Still more reruns of this show isn't exactly a big deal.

I haven't seen it on local syndication in years. I don't think it's been offered to local stations in a long time. They took it off for newer sitcoms awhile ago.

True, most go that route. I wasn't aware it hadn't been offered though.

Seinfeld is still on locally but I guess it's not common for shows to stay on for 20+ years in syndication.

I don't think there's anything wrong with pointing out that a TV station has picked up reruns of a show.

That being said, this show not only was in HEAVY syndication for many years after it went off the air, it appears to have pretty recently been in syndication. According to Wikipedia, it was on TBS up until 2013, on Nick/TV Land until 2013, and on Hallmark until either 2016 or 2017 (and/or may still be on there now?).

As each new generation of sitcoms comes down the pipeline, the older shows see less syndication of course. I recall regular blocks in the 90s of reruns of shows that are completely gone from the air now, like "Mr. Belevedere", "Small Wonder", "Webster", "Head of the Class", etc.

Aside from "Full House", which still gets pretty heavy play, a lot of the 90s stuff like Urkel and "Home Improvement" get some airplay, but less.

I'm not a fan of present-day Tim Allen (real life or TV), but always enjoyed "Home Improvement" (the later seasons did get tired and bloated as most shows do), and I can say that if you dig the show, get the DVD sets. The syndication "prints" of the show are hacked to pieces. Like "The Simpsons", some of the best jokes have been cut out completely for time.

It's nice to see these channels are bringing back sitcoms that are no longer being run. It's getting tiring to see reruns of Big Bang Theory or Modern Family. It seems those two shows get shown again in my area more than anything else.

The show is actually already on Laff for those of you who haven't noticed yet.

I was about to say... I passed by Home Improvement on that channel just a few nights back... so when I saw this thread title, I was like "Wait, it's September already?" (haha)

It ended up being a replacement for Roseanne instead.
