Chuck McCann, a multi-talented comic actor of television and films, passed away today. Chuck was well known to New York fans for his stint on kid shows, performing wacky skits that was a major inspiration for the latter Uncle Floyd Show.

McCann has appeared in many films including ‘The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter’, Mel Brooks ‘Silent Movie’, and starred in the critically acclaimed cult film ‘The Projectionist’ co-starring Rodney Dangerfield.

He co-starred in the Saturday morning show ‘Far Out Space Nuts’ with Bob Denver and did the popular Right Guard commercials. In 2012 he released his career autobiography ‘Let’s Have Fun Scrapbook’.

Chuck was a well loved personality with both the entertainment community and his fans. He will be missed.

The last thing I saw him in was "C.H.O.M.P.S." (1979). He was a great comedian & a nice guy to everyone. RIP Mr. McCann.

I loved Chuck McCann and how his children’s show did not talk down to kids, had humor and heart, and celebrated greats such as Laurel & Hardy.

I remember him from when he was on the Howard Stern show. The time he came in with Sam Kinison was one of the most classic episodes ever.

Wow, can't believe he's gone. Remember him from all the commercials he did and of course stuff that was the life of my childhood like Far Out Space Nuts. All kinds of guest spots throughout the 1970s, too many to count. Another part of my early TV enjoyment is now gone. Rest in Peace Mr. McCann.

  18. Oh no! Another RIP thread!

Chuck was a funnyman. He had the whole shtick. I'll never forget his face for as long as I live. After that, who knows what I'll remember.

Wow. I have never seen that nor even knew it existed! What year was it made? Judging by Groucho's appearance I'm guessing 1972 or '73? RIP Chuck. He was a part of my childhood, he seemed to be everywhere in the '60s and early '70s. My Dad loved those Right Guard commercials. Incidentally, the other guy is Bill Fiore, a terribly underappreciated actor whom I have always liked. Sadly, we lost him a few years ago.

Feels like an old childhood friend has passed. Used to come home from elementary school every day and watch him host a 3 stooges show! RIP
