Bands who made the same album over and over again

Not Bowie, not the Beatles. Who are the band's that made the same type of album again and again without any expansion or experimentalism? Are there any good artists that do not expand their sound? Not necessarily a bad thing....

The Fall, always different, always the same.

Wilco? Not real departures or experiments apart from A Ghost is Born perhaps?

What about Ramones?

First band that came to mind.

 

I agree, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Angus and Malcolm found an awful lot of space in a fairly confined area, and that's a talent in and of itself.

 

Definitely, they found the formula that works.

New Pornographers—love their records but not much growth or change. I’d say the same thing about Oasis and The Clientele.

 

Yeah, it's funny how it works sometimes, huh?

I admit there are many bands I don't care for because every album is more of the same old same old, yet...I don't want AC/DC trying to be Radiohead.

AC/DC has such a great niche and unapologetically direct basic sound that it's beyond criticism, IMO.

 

My favorite artist - Van Morrison - since at least 1995.

 

At least AC/DC made two albums; one with Bon and the other with Brian.

Disagree on both counts about the Ramones. And their first four albums are pretty unimpeachable.

 

And AC/DC won't be topped.

Every Chevelle album sounds pretty much the same to me.

 

Yes, first four are total classics.

That said, EOTC was a departure for them, and then Pleasant Dreams and Subterranean Jungle, Hell, they even went hardcore for a period.
Granted, they had a signature writing and musical style, but it’s not excatcly true that every album was the same

 

ZZ Top knew the formula.

 

Maybe the 70s, but Eliminator was a big departure for them, and they kept the synths and drum machines for one or two albums more.

Nah, just look at Exile vs. Black & Blue vs. Emotional Rescue vs. Undercover vs. Bridges to Babylon. Each nothing like the other.

 

ABBA...Air Supply...The Shadows...Crazy Horse....Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks...Dave Brubeck Quartet..... War................Faith No More....and to some extent Creedence Clearwater revival

 

Look i love both bands, i have all the acdc albums up to fly on the wall and status quo from piledriver to 1982 and i live them but they are essentially the same albums with minor adjustments.
