I loved this band but lost the plot with them several years ago. Glad to see they’re still around. I’d be embarrassed to admit the last album I heard from these dudes.

Love the Fu, I know the new album will have a longer song on with Alex Lifeson from Rush guesting. I own all their CD’s and am looking forward to new music and live shows !

...caught them last year in Long Beach with Fatso Jetson. Great show. Album wise my interest kind of faded when Brant left after California Crossing.

That’s where I lost track of them, too. Actually, King of the Road was the last album I really liked.

Good News - I had thought they were semi-retired.
Bad news - they are skipping western NY (but there is an open day in their sched)

Awesome band (so much better than QOTSA)!
My interest waned a little after California Crossing, but their last album, Gigantoid, was really good.

I hate that the vinyl for the new album sold out in less than a day after going up for pre-order, and the CD sold out soon after, making them both unavailable on it's actual release date. They said they're going to release more vinyl, but they gave no time-frame.

Who sells out this quick for a brand new release?

With it being sold out from their site, I ended up ordering the vinyl from amazon. Wonder if it'll be a colored version or not.

I went ahead and bought the download from Bandcamp. I made a CD-R with Future Transmitter and Slow Ride as bonus tracks. Maybe I'll buy the LP from the merchandise table when I see them May 8th.

Yeah, it's surprising to see both CD's and LP's sell out so quickly. You wonder if they pressed a really small number or most of the units were sold to Amazon. Maybe the LP's and CD's are being bought up by speculators and we'll see a bunch of them turn up on Discogs for inflated prices. Maybe they set aside a large number of the LP/CD's to sell on their tour dates.

It's only $5.99 on iTunes - I might give this one a shot, the previews sound good and the reviews are fairly positive.

Got my copy of the vinyl from amazon, and yeah, looks like it's the same pressing/edition as the one on their site, with the black/blue swirl. Looks cool - great pressing too, like all their vinyl, it mastered with nice dynamic range, allowing you to really crank it and hear their beefy tone!

Can anyone recommend a good starting point to get into Fu Manchu? An album or two? Are there any I should avoid as an introduction to the band? Thanks.

I'm with the post above - In Search Of, The Action Is Go and King of the Road are their peak albums. Eatin' Dust is great too, but more of a mini-album kinda thing. I'd advoid California Crossing - really wimpy production which literally took me about 17 years to accept (ha!) - and Start the Machine and We Must Obey, which sound ok but the songs just aren't there. They picked up again after that.

...Daredevil is my favorite of the Eddie Glass years.
The Action Is Go from the Brant Bjork years.

...you guys should seek out the demos for California Crossing. They sound much better than the final product.

Absolutely, the album sounds neutered in comparison.
