I've had so many different speakers over the years. Polk,JBL,Axiom,Ascend,Monitor Audio,Elac,Pioneer,Wharfdale,Kef and others. I saw these Energy speakers on sale at Newegg for $129 a pair. I ordered them and I don't know how or why but they sound better to me than all of the speaker brands I listed above. $129! Some of the speakers above cost 4x that much.

I have a pair of Energy bookshelf speaks in my living room. They were from Energy's 'high end' line about 15 years ago (I don't have a clue what model # they are), but they sound glorious.

It’s either the Veritas series or the Connoisseur series.

I still have a pair of Connoisseur C-3 and C-1. Have too many speakers at home, but can’t bring myself to selling them.

you CAN NOT lose with any Energy product, even if Klipsch has ruined them.

Energy are amazing speakers, my favorite, not harsh, always sound clean / accurate, and just damn good ! highly recommended speakers !!!!

yes i use them, i have been through wow, 10 -14 pairs of floor standers over the years, and my Energy's are the best I've ever heard so far. with one exception (Dynaudio) which the increase in price was not worth the very tiny midrange being subtly sweeter.

Ill keep my Energy's til they are rotted messes. ima fan for life.

those cf-70's are on my radar as well, for a backup.

This is what I notice with the CB20s. No sibilance at all. I can sit way off center and still hear both speakers. The speakers disappear. That wasn't the case with most of the speaker brands I listed above.

That’s what I noticed when I auditioned them, head-to-head, with the Monitor Audio Bronze B2. The tweeter may be made of metal, but it’s silky smooth.

The gem I found was Boston Acoustic CR series. Mine is the 6 circa 1996
Man, something is just right about those.

I'm still holding onto my pair of C7 (cca. 2005). Also had a pair of C1. Oh boy! How sweet sounding these little gems were.

I totally agree. I had the CR-8 and I regret selling them.

Saw a pair of cr-6 in thrift store the other day for 35 bucks and I tried to pass some knowledge down to the teenagers working in there, one kid looked interested. I didn’t buy because I really don’t need another pair in the house. I’ll check and see if they took my advise next week. Speakers had been there for a year. Heck I may get em. Argh!

I also wanted to say that the CB20's make everything sound 3d-holographic. No other speaker brand I listed above did that for me.

I'm still listening to my old eXL-15's and eXL-C that I got in the late '90s / early 2000's.

    https://www.amazon.com/Energy-eXL-15-2-Way-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B000B67CB8

I've auditioned a bunch of bookshelf speakers since, but you have to get up into the $1000 a pair price range even today to get a speaker that sounds better all around. And I got these for considerably less than $1000 for the whole set. Their metal tweeters are surprisingly tame - less tinny than B&W's lower-end CM bookshelves' were, although not as refined. And their midrange performance is smooth and natural, without the somewhat pinched sound of the KEF LS-50, or the truncated high-end of the Elac Uni-fi UB5.

It's a pity Klipsch bought and ruined the brand during the recession.
