Happy Birthday Burt! I saw him in Pittsburgh last month with the Pittsburgh Symphony and he put on a great show! He looked frail and his voice is worse than ever (though there’s something endearing about it nonetheless)— still he had three excellent vocalists who sang most of the selections from his exquisite songbook!

Seeing him and hearing his voice at any age is just like visiting an old friend.

Allegedly, Mr. Bacharach's first charted song, co-written in 1957 with Mr.
    Hal David:

"The Story of My Life" - Marty Robbins.

The start of a tremendous career for Burt, and one of Marty's best performances.

A living legend. Amazing work with Dion Warwick (she's getting up there too - 77). Happy Birthday!

He may be dwelling on his past to keep his legacy active, but he is a true legend and put out lots of timeless music. We just need to enjoy his legacy.

He is still writing as well but his great legacy is his seminal 60s work.

Exactly right. This is a guy who needs to keep at his work as long as he can and stay as healthy as can be for as long as possible.

I saw him with the San Diego Symphony maybe 5-7 years ago. Loved it. I have the Look of Love 4cd box set. Have enjoyed it. Around $14 used on Amazon. Worth it.

Also, his A&M work is worth having, for a loungy take on the music, with a lot of it being instrumental, especially Reach Out.

God bless the man, he's having a nice long life, and has a classic songbook to boot.

I love his 60’s songs. They are a real part of that musical time.

They are a real part of our overall popular music culture, not just the 60s.
