Cosmos Rocks by Queen + Paul Rodgers. I'd rank it above some of the latter day Queen stuff like The Miracle or A Kind Of Magic.

I'll see your Cosmos Rocks and raise you a Made in Heaven. Seriously, though that closing instrumental is hardly a Queen track and the album isn't quite what it was advertised to be, it's still a great slab of music and some of those re-recordings easily transcend the original versions.

I remember reading many critics and fan reviews strongly disliking the album, expecting another Psalm 69. It took me a while to get used to the slow, sludge metal sound and eventually loving it altogether. What's great is that the album helped expand my tastes to stoner/doom/sludge metal, from the likes of The Melvins, Boris, Sunn O))), Earth, etc.

Just not near as bad as the 0.0 review from Pitchfork, but not one of their best

Made In Heaven is definitely their best post-1980 album. I'd probably rank it fifth after Queen II/SHA/ANATO/ADATR. Maybe even higher than some of those, even though it is indeed a total mish-mash of demos, remakes and b-sides. What an amazing production. I still hope that one day we will see a deluxe release of it with some of the original versions and an in-depth documentary. Shame David Richards has died though.

    A fine album IMO.

It's still a sore point for me that Queen Forever didn't turn out to be Made in Heaven II. I'm convinced they can still put out a solid album of material using that method (albeit likely ONLY one more). Only sticking point is the lack of John Deacon, whom I suspect was a good barometer for MIH the first time around.

this! ok its not exactly earth shattering but its very tuneful 70's pop rock and Bish knew his way around a hook (for this album anyway) I know RS loathed it, im guessing most of the press were ambivalent towards it

Production is dated and not very subtle but there is good stuff on this album.

This is armchair quarterback reviewing at its worst. As if CSN(Y) should be what he wants them to be. Want something heavy? Why don't you write and record it yourself?
(Okay, I realize this review is four 'n a half decades old :D But it still got my back up.)

It's still too sweet, too soothing, too perfect, and too good to be true.

Did he only listen to the Nash songs? :sigh:

I don't remember anyone saying anything positive about this one in '78; it was the first time I'd seen a Dylan record in the cut-out bin shortly after it was released. Regardless, it's one of my most listened-to Dylan titles.

That whole thing was like putting chicken tikka masala on spaghetti. Two great things that *really* don't work together.
