I agree with this. Also: "B Movies" on the original British Get Happy!! by Elvis Costello, and I remember the windows really rattling on "Susie Cincinnati" from The Beach Boys' 15 Big Ones.

Those bass pedals favored by so many progressive rock bands provide some profound low end.

I have gotten more complaints from neighbors, etc. about Phil Lesh than anyone else, so he wins. Plus he damn near bruised my sternum in 1989 at the Oakland Coliseum with the power of his playing. No other bass player has ever come close.

Jack Casady definitely. But here's an obscure one. Any of you who have the Fairport Convention Live in Finland 1971 should crank that sucker. Dave Pegg on bass. They were down to a 4 piece at that time and that album effing rocks, and a lot of the credit goes to him. The rhythm section really stepped up with surprising power.

I haven't tried this but I'm sure a few Mingus tracks at a certain volume would make the wall pics dance around a little. Dude must have had fingers made of steel.

The opening bass lines on the title cut from Donald Fagen’s Morph The Cat.

    Stunning

The bass on this Devin Townsend track is amazing but has to be heard on headphones, it's sounds completely different on speakers and no where near as bassy.

Levitation by the 13th Floor Elevators has a bass guitar change in the choruses that is insanely deep. Weird I mean.

The drum opening to Van Halen's Hot for Teacher (especially on cassette) really make my woofers move. Queen's Millionaire Waltz seems to make my ears tingle with the opening bass part in the left channel.

Triple-tracked basses will do that, especially if one of them is an upright acoustic bass.

Live with Me in mono. I know it's just a folddown and not dedicated mono mix, but it opens the track before Charlie kicks in and the bass is deep and clear with delicious reverb. Olympic Studios, so many classics recorded there.

Check out "Paris au Printemps", their import live album which came out right after.

(Played the vinyl to death. Don't know if the CD does it justice.)
