I remember when that set came out, they advertised it as being complied by Waylon himself. And I have read that he hated that song, so that explains why it wasn’t included.

He did not want any of his early songs released, and I may be wrong, even fought Bear Family to try to keep them from putting out the two sets they did on him.

What are your guys' thoughts on Ray Pennington?
I've only just come across some of his music on youtube, and surprised to see there is not a
CD release of any of his material.
This wiki page will bring you up to date:

Seems he has had a long career in music, love this little ol' country boogie:

Just from what I've found, he's recorded for the major Capitol & Monument labels, and seems to
have a bunch of releases on obscure labels too.
Would be great to know more about the guy.
He's still alive as of 2018!

Oh ya, he hated that one too.

But here's the quote from Waylon about The Wurlitzer Prize in Tom Roland's "Number One Country Hits" book. "I learned a big lesson from that thing, because when I started singing it on stage, I turned around to my drummer and said, 'Remind me that if I ever put out a single again, I have to sing the SOB every day of my life.' So now I ask myself, 'Is this something I want to sing?' I loved it when I first heard it, you know, but I get bored quick."

So to me that explains why that it wasn't on a set that Waylon helped program. He always did Luckenbach Texas in concert, and I remember one time him saying how much he hated it. I have never seen a live clip of him doing Wurlitzer Prize though.

How the hell are Sony in a position to do that? I thought their only profitable department was gaming. Oof!

EDIT: Is there a dedicated thread on this? If not please create one. Curious to hear thoughts on this.

Got The Farmer Boys Bear Family CD today from Amazon. Came with a cracked case and had the hinge busted off. Every Bear CD I have ordered off Amazon lately has had something broken. Either the case or the CD holder spindle. And every time I have returned it for an unbroken copy. Am I being too picky? I just feel paying $18.00 and paying extra for prime I should get an unbroken copy and not have to piece together parts to make a good set. Anyway, haven't even gotten a chance to listen to it yet.

Are you buying direct from Amazon? From my experience, third-part sellers on Amazon like ImportCDs package their items better.
