First one that comes to mind is that awful "Back To School" thing on the Jon & Vangelis album "The Friends of Mr Cairo". What were they thinking? It sounds like a filler song for a Bill Haley album.

I enjoy Sloop John B, though I agree it's out of place on the album.

On the other hand I cannot tolerate listening to Student Demonstration Time (from Surf's Up). I don't mean I merely dislike it. I am physically unable to endure hearing the track. It's a dog of a song to begin with, but the production sounds as if the speakers were being overloaded and about to blow.

I do agree -- and they should have used one of the stellar live versions...which, sadly...were mostly recorded AFTER the album was released...or, at least limit the instrumentation in the studio to just piano, harmonica, and voice.

A close second is "Within You Without You" on Sgt Pepper... A neat tune and I appreciate it more as I get older, but doesn't fit on Pepper

Not familiar with this album, but gee, you want to jettison the title track? Usually if you name an album after a song, it's supposed to be among the better tracks. o_O

I guess "Seamus" has been mentioned from Pink Floyd's "Meddle" already? A blues riff with a dog barking on top of it.

Crazy Beat on Blur's Think Tank album. Dated Fatboy Slim-produced cheesiness totally at odds with the rest of the album.

Interesting, as they played that one live in the early days. I would say Now I've Got A Witness is weaker.

I give it about 5 minutes maximum until someone posts "Walking the Dog is the Stones' best early song!"

'Mind Garden' from Younger Than Yesterday. When I was 14 I thought it was deep poetry. Now I just skip it and feel a little pang of regret that they could have put another song in there instead.

I must be missing something here. What does this image have to do with the album by Heart?

That one is awful for sure

I'd say Contre La Sexisme, the opener for Sonic Youth's "A Thousand Leaves", an otherwise wonderful release. It's bad ...

A couple that come to mind when it comes to 1 bad song on an otherwise great album,

For anybody familiar with Moby Grape's 2nd album "Wow", it's a great album except for the excruciatingly slow moving "Three-Four", which seems like it's never going to end.

Probably not a popular opinion, but I can't stand "Epitaph" from King Crimson's "Court of the Crimson King" album. Absolute classic album otherwise. I can even sit through the entire 9 minutes of "Moonchild", electronic beeps and boops and all, but "Epitaph" is just so overbearingly heavy and gloomy, like dark gray skies descending, I usually skip it over. Even though that shortens the album considerably, since it only leaves a total of 4 other songs
