Same. In 2009 and 2011 and 2015 European dates were part of the UK (well, just Echo Arena and O2 Arena all the time) tour, but I believe they got announced in the same batch. The fact the Paris La Défense Arena director already spilled the beans a few weeks ago - "at the end of the year, we'll have Paul McCartney" - makes it seem likely the European dates are being announced soon for November/December. And, the positive thing is that in 2015 we got the warmed-up leftovers from the tired 2 year long going 'Out There' tour, and now we're in the early months of the tour. The 7 changes (3 songs from the new album, 3 songs which were only just dropped the previous tour, and 1 new Beatle song) will still be fresh then.
1990, to be precise. But he's been back to Seattle/Portland many times since then - why did you skip all those? I know he's played Portland/Seattle/Tacoma in 2002, 2005, 2013 & 2016...
I wonder realistically what the unheard Beatles song will be ? I can't see him changing 'Something' for another George song unfortunately, although with the 'White Album' anniversary 'Gently Weeps' would make sense. Seeing as he has been performing 'Love Me Do', I was thinking that 'She Loves You' or 'I Want To Hold Your Hand' could be up for consideration. I personally would be very happy with 'Every Little Thing' or 'What You're Doing'. I doubt we will see any unplayed or rarely played Wings/solo songs, so no 'No More Lonely Nights', 'With A Little Luck', 'Take It Away', etc, although I have always hoped he would play the UK no.1 single 'Pipes of Peace' at a UK Christmas show, alongside or instead of 'Wonderful Christmastime' and 'Mull'. I cannot see him ever debuting 'Oh Darling!' now, unless it was a slowed down Bee Gees style version, and I don't think 'When I'm 64' will ever make the cut. If he wanted to acknowledge the 'White Album' he could always add 'Martha My Dear', 'Honey Pie' and/or 'Rocky Raccoon' which Wickens was pushing for in the past (he of course has played the piano intro to 'Martha' in soundcheck a couple of years ago in Japan). He may revive 'Why Don't We Do It In The Road', but I doubt it, although if he did I do like the idea of adding 'Wild Honey Pie' to it.

With White Album promo, probably Martha My Dear or Why Don't We Do It In the Road (hey why not both?)
I’m going to try for Quebec City tickets. I’ve seen Paul six times: Montreal 89, Foxboro 90, Boston 05, Quebec City 08, Montreal 10, Montreal 11. I registered for the Ticketmaster lottery, but I also have an AMEX card. Anyone have experience with the AMEX pre-sales? I’ll likely try both. Not sure which would have the best tickets available.
What if Paul were to have two completely different set lists and each night he alternated them with no duplication between them. The other set he could use for the soundcheck. He could plan to go to each city for two or 4 days and make sure everyone knows the set list before buying their ticket. That way he could have 5 hours worth of songs presented as two 2 1/2 hour performances. He could call the concert series "A/B Road" Here are two possible more or less chronological set lists, not straying too far from his comfort zone. Set list A "In Spite of All the Danger" "Love Me Do" "A Hard Day's Night" "Can't Buy Me Love" "And I Love Her" "Yesterday" "Drive My Car" "You Won't See Me" "Here, There and Everywhere" "We Can Work It Out" "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)" "Blackbird" "Helter Skelter" "I've Got a Feeling" "Let It Be" "Maybe I'm Amazed" "Jet" "Junior's Farm" "Letting Go" "Let Me Roll It" "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five" "Temporary Secretary" "Somebody Who Cares" "Press" "Twenty Five Fingers" "Beautiful Night" "Fine Line" "Mr. Bellamy" "Only Mama Knows" "Highway" "My Valentine"" "Early Days" "Appreciate" "I Can Bet" "Come On To Me" Set list B "I Saw Her Standing There" "I Wanna Be Your Man" "All My Loving" "I've Just Seen a Face" "Eleanor Rigby" "The Fool on the Hill" "Lady Madonna" "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!" "A Day in the Life"/"Give Peace a Chance" "Back in the U.S.S.R." "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" "Birthday" "Hey Jude" "Something" "Golden Slumbers"/"Carry That Weight"/"The End" "Get Back" "Live and Let Die" "Hi, Hi, Hi" "Band on the Run" "Mull of Kintyre" "Listen to What The Man Said" "I'm Carrying" "Take It Away" "Here Today" "My Brave Face" "The World Tonight" "English Tea" "Jenny Wren" "Ever Present Past" "Sing the Changes" "New" "Queenie Eye" "FourFiveSeconds" "I Don't Know"
I saw this in the other thread and think that it is a great idea, even if I would tweak it ever so slightly. I can see both shows selling out.
My votes for songs to include that aren't a part of most past sets: OPENER: Take It Away Why Don't We Do It in the Road Martha My Dear accoustic: Rocky Racoon For No One (would work good with his current singing range) Eat At Home Big Barn Bed or Get On the Right Thing I've Had Enough (again, work well with current singing voice) Goodnight Tonight Wanderlust Come and Get It, Goodbye, On the Wings of a Nightingale
Don't do front row. You could end up way off to the side. Middle front row is usually saved for special people or fans upgraded. Go for rows 2-5.
I can see things I would tweak as well. It was just a starting g point. I saw it as a way for Paul to talk about his music chronologically through time and world events. Now, I doubt that he would want to do that, but it would make for two interesting evenings. What are some of the tweaks that you would make, Ben?
Due to the current economic crisis over here, I believe those concerts will be postponed to 2019. I think (pure speculation) he'll tour the USA in October and Europe in November.
I hate this trickle of announcements, don't know whether to book one of the UK gigs or wait for the rest of Europe to be announced. Does anyone think there is a chance of a show in Ireland? It's been 8 years.
His current band can handle anything McCartney would want to do. Disagree! If McCartney can play an absolutely terrible song like Temporary Secretary in front of big crowds, he could play as many far superior songs as he wanted in front of stadium crowds. On every single one of those Forums the number of people stating the same reasons why McCartney can't play more of his material by far and I do mean by far, eclipses my lone opinion! That's what I know!
So do I, I have registered to the UK pre-sales but I hope a Paris show will be announced before July 11th !
Best advice I can give is that if the live in a major city, keep your ears and eyes open. Monitor the social media accounts
My tweaks would just come down to personal preference; I am not especially keen on 'Four Five Seconds' but can see why it should be included because it was a recent hit single, but other than that it would just be things like 'Friends To Go' instead of 'English Tea' and 'Somedays' in stead of 'World Tonight' (simply because I like the songs I would be swapping in even more than those I'd be taking out). I like the idea, and as you say, it would enable Paul to talk in a new way about the material. It reminds me of how Bowie released a reverse chronological 'Best of' album a few years ago.
He might drop "FourFiveSeconds" because of his writing partner (subject we're not allowed to talk about).
