Mine did. Obviously he was wrong. Let’s see if Drake proves me wrong. Who knows maybe he has a Rubber Soul and Revolver in him. Lol

Ok Ed. I may have been a little harsh with my words but can you tell me anyone in pop music that has come along in the last 10 years that will be remembered 60 years from now? Take "Bridge Over Troubled Water". When you heard that the first time you knew it was something special. These days, the only one that comes close is Adele, and I am unsure she will resonate for that long.
There is a lot of good new music, but most of it is from bands that have been making good music for the last 20 or more years. Artists like Wilco, Flaming Lips, Sam Beam come to mind.
But do you really believe that Drake will ever accomplish what the Beatles did? Not even by a slim chance.

    Don't hold your breath.

I mostly feel bad for the guy who says he's only a year older than I am (just turned 49 last month) but doesn't seem to have bought a single new record since Rumours. Middle-aged white men are weird.

Jacob Collier. He is changing harmony and melody as we speak. Check him out. He's phenomenal.

There are 10 pages of people who care far too much that their sacred Beatles have been blemished and you ask "who cares". ROFL!

Just once I want one of these guys to explain to me why I should care what music from 2018 will be "relevant," whatever that means, in 2088. I'll be long dead by then. Why would that matter to me now?

I'll be taking a run at the MLB single-season HR record when the fences are 20 ft. from home plate.

I don’t think it’s weird as much as the pop culture bar has been lowered significantly in the last 3 decades. It’s not just music. It’s movies, books TV etc.......although of course there are exceptions of outstanding work. Our culture has been dumbed down significantly and has gotten trashier. A blind man can see it.

I don't get why anyone would feel bad for him. He listens to music that he loves and enjoys. If he hasn't bought a new album since Rumours, so what?

I bought a new Bob Dylan record today!

I am listening to it now.

Here are some of the lyrics :

Well, I remember seein’ some ad
So I turned on my Conelrad
But I didn’t pay my Con Ed bill
So the radio didn’t work so well
    Turned on my record player—
It was Drake singin’, “Tell Your Ma, Tell Your Pa
    Our Love’s A-gonna Grow Ooh-wah, Ooh-wah”

You don’t get it. There is no wrong or right — your father had different taste because he grew up in a different time. That’s it and that’s all.

The kids into the music you hate don’t care what you think anymore than you cared what your dad thought.

My dad thought (and thinks) punk was tuneless crap that wouldn’t last. 40 years later, there are still plenty of people buying and listening to punk records. He didn’t get it then, he doesn’t get it now.

So congratulations on being part of the latest generation to stop “getting” pop music. If it makes you feel better, you won’t be the last.
