I had the pleasure of listening to this one a few times this weekend and I totally agree that it's very good. Worth seeking out most assuredly. The 'Deep Jazz Reality' series can be 'hit or miss' for me but this one's a keeper! Thanks for the recommendation.
If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend adding some Johnny Smith in the mix. He's a recent discovery for me and I've fallen in love with a lot of his records.
One Night In Washington - Dizzy Gillespie with The Orchestra (Collectables/Elektra) CD Recorded 1955. Dizzy with Orchestra and specially added rhythm section for the Latin Music captured live, and everyone in crackin' form too!
I don't know it, but it seems to me really interesting. I can imagine a sound that reminds Centipede, Keith Tippett, Brotherhood of Breath and so on.

Interesting news from Zev Feldman who has been producing releases for Resonance Records: THE JAZZ DETECTIVE GOES TO BALTIMORE! I had the pleasure Monday of interviewing and receiving some newly found tapes from my good friend, and original board member of The Left Bank Jazz Society, John Fowler. Over the next two years and beyond you’re going to see a stream of previously unissued LBJS recordings from a plethora of jazz greats come out, officially with clearances. The first is Etta Jones “A Soulful Sunday: Live at the Left Bank” (1972) featuring Cedar Walton, Sam Jones and Billy Higgins, due out this November on Reel To Real, my new venture with jazz amigo Cory Weeds. The Left Bank Jazz Society captured the spirit and community of the jazz scene from Baltimore from the early 1960’s thru the 1990’s. We’re going to document even further the great accomplishments of the LBJS. Maryland and this amazing organization left a profound mark on Jazz. I want to thank Mr. Fowler for putting his trust in me. More exciting news to come. All the way from Baltimore!

The View From Jazzbo's Head - The Six (Bethlehem/Solid) CD with Bob Wilber (clarinet/tenor sax), John Glasel (trumpet), Sonny Truitt (trombone), Bob Hammer (piano), Bill Britto (bass), Jackie Moffett (drums) Recorded 1956 Japanese CD edition issued as part of Bethlehem Album Collection 1000 by Verse Music Group/Ultra-Vybe This group were previously unknown to me, so I checked back through old postings on The Jazz Beat and noticed it turning up now and again and being praised, so based on what was said I decided to get hold of a copy. As expected this 8 track album is a wee gem, and the Japanese CD version is presented in top notch sound.
