Huh - those didn't turn up in my search! I punched in "Saturday Night Live music" - nuttin'!

I work on the strong assumption the 5 discs are just pieces of the box split up into individual releases. I'd be surprised to find they're anything not already found in the box...

Why, exactly? I know the history -- he was rebelling against his label and corporate-controlled broadcasting, blah blah. But it seems like just an awkward stunt. How many people, watching it at the time, recognized it as a rebellious act, or realized that Lorne Michaels was mad about it, or even understood what "Radio Radio" was about? Absent all this history, the performance, while good, was not exactly memorable. For punk insouciance it's tough to top the The Replacements. I'll also never forget Paul Simon's "The Boxer" after 9/11 -- the performance wasn't fantastic, but the emotional weight was unmatched.

Jimmy B. isolation can harm you terribly

Their version of You Don't Know How It Feels was really fantastic; the best version ever of that song.

SNL provided a great opportunity for this sort of collaboration, but very few artists have done this kind of thing over the years.

Yup. Anytime I've watched it since I've always stated it was my favorite SNL performance ever.

Not as awesome as Neil Young or the Mats, but I've always liked the Honeydrippers 12/15/84 performances.

Plant, Brian Setzer, Paul Schaffer and a bunch of horns perform Rockin' At Midnight and Santa Claus Is Back In Town. Them as likes Queen's SNL "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" performance should love this, as Setzer really tears it up. Dig the fake snow during the Xmas tune, too. My two cents.

Never been offered as an option.

For the people who mention Prince's first appearance on SNL on the ill-fated Charles Rocket F-Bomb show, the main musical guest was Todd Rundgren, on his only appearance. He did Time Heals and Healer from the album of the same name:

Amazing band! Pat Travers (guitar), Kasim Sulton (bass), Roger Powell (synthesizer), Ralph Schuckett (keyboards), Ernest "Boom" Carter (drums), Mike Shrieve (percussion), Eric Troyer (vocals), Rory Dodd (vocals).

Glad you mentioned them. Being from Milwaukee (as were the Spanics) my wife and
I got to know them well when they first started performing in our area. As they got
more popular locally, they put out their first CD. When I found out they were going
to be on SNL, my wife and I couldn't believe it, as you can imagine. And they were great!
One of the few father and son groups in rock, they really rocked when they did
older rockabilly tracks on stage. And two of the best guitarists I've EVER heard.
Sadly, Tom (the father) recently passed away. But his son, Ian, for years has been
producing other artists and playing on their releases. But in the 90's, they were amazing.
Here's my favorite recording by them, an instrumental of Milwaukee's own Legends original
    from the early sixties.

To be honest, I feel Gilda Radner's (my all time favorite SNL cast member) parody
of Patti Smith as "Candy Slice" is spot on and amazing. She did it several times on
the show, but here's the sketch (hosted by Rick Nelson) where all of the cast members
are in character as celebrities, and then she goes on stage and performs.

I think that that was an album recorded by his illegitimate brother, W. Somerset Coleman.

According to the "SNL Wiki" site, Dylan only appeared on "SNL" once - and that was 1979, so too early for "Jokerman".

As you note, Dylan did play the song on Letterman - and it's a pretty different version than the one on "Infidels". More late 70s Elvis Costello than the reggae-inflected album cut:
