I wonder if Bear Family can make a CDbox using this book as a source? It is in german,a CD box would be great and book in English. July | 2018 | Type On A Sunday
Hank contributed several new tracks to the last Bear Family Anniversary box (40 Years!!!). He's currently heavily involved in the Fats Domino project for BF.
could have replaced it with a fake Taylor Swift signed print, who'd know? Speaking of Willie Nelson (ok, we weren't) This looks like a pretty neat release of some old stuff: Willie Nelson’s Earliest Recordings Released in “Things to Remember – The Pamper Demos” edit: I'm an idiot, I mentioned this 3 or 4 pages back. maybe I'm minding my lose..... I mean loosing my mind...
No Rick, this is great news. I sent a request for a comp of Willie's Pamper demos a few years ago and naturally assumed it would be on the low end of their priorities. Previous CD releases have included some of the Pamper demos, although the source material was questionable and the sound quality varied drastically on some recordings. Most of these songs were recorded as publishing demos and that's why RCA and Liberty had Willie re-record newer versions after the fact. Since Pamper was Ray Price's publishing company, I'm fairly certain his band also played on a number of these recordings. Supposedly, many of these tracks were thought to be forgotten and it wasn't until the 1980s when they were discovered.
There's already a kind of "soundtrack" to the Teldec book – last year the author compiled this for Richard Weize's label: Perfect For Parties (CD) | Bear Family Records
did I mention a new Willie Nelson set coming out? for us guys who love vinyl, it looks pretty snazzy!
I plan on getting the CD version. Just too bad it doesn't seem to be a complete collection of his existing Pamper demos.
Are there more outside of this collection? The way the article reads, is seems to suggest it's complete with 28 songs. What is missing that's not covered?
It would seem I'm the one who misread the announcement. There was something I must have read wrong that made me think it was still incomplete, but now I'm not sure what it could have been.
I haven't bought a box set release in several months now. What's the next big box set coming out and when?
Off the top of my head there's Lefty, Fats, the mystery outlaw musician, and that bluegrass label anthology.
Based on Michael's previous hints, are we still leaning towards David Allan Coe being the mystery outlaw musician or has something else been revealed that I missed that might hint to a different possibility?
