Another jazz musician from the past who one should check out is Charlie Teagarden, the younger brother of the legendary Jack Teagarden. The only CD overview of his work is that on the Retrospective Records PD label (they use CD-Rs, BTW) featuring transcriptions of his work with Jack and Frankie Trumbauer, and also transcriptions of him playing with Jimmy Dorsey, Bob Crosby and some more live trio work from the 1930s-1940s. The rest of the CD is a reissue of the 1962 Coral Records album “The Big Horn of “Little T.” https://www.amazon.co.uk/Charlie-Teagarden-Little-Finest-1936-1962/dp/B07CPF7MXW/
This is a superb album! Apologies for this late inquiry: does anyone know if the plain CD version (non-UHQCD) is available in the US? Amazon doesn’t show any listing. (I’m having to listen on Apple Music).
What's wrong with the Japan release? You can always ask her: Contact BTW, check out her early releases as well as Youtube videos.
My lawn mowing is done with extreme isolation headphones and an iPod filled with music. Makes the mow go better!
Great cover of Ellington's "I Got It Bad (and That Ain't Good) and the original "Monk He See, Monk He Do."

RECORDED OCTOBER 8 AND 9, 1959 AT RADIO RECORDERS, HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA. LINER NOTES / INTERVIEW BY GARY KRAMER.
I am inclined to say that "Change of the Century" is even better than "The Shape of Jazz to Come"... but that could just be because the opening track 'Ramblin'' is such a magnificent beast, with Haden's best performance I've ever heard.
(LP Blue Note Blue &White Label US Mono Press BLP-4151) .... recorded November 1963 .... another "must have" Blue Note date and the mint Mono press has superb claritiy regarding the headspinning basslines of Richard Davis and enables considerable punch to the drumming courtesy of Roy Haynes ....
LOL, nothing wrong at all about the Japanese release I have quite a few SHM-CDs and they’re very good. Problem is I then go on a shopping spree on CD-Japan and Tower Records. So instead of buying 2 CDs, I will end-up getting 10 CDs
CD: Dreyfuss Jazz (1996) The performances on this double disc set emphasize passion over precision, yet this rough and ready band can turn on a dime through big band swing, Latin halftime, bop, New Orleans, avant-garde blowing and more, sometimes in the same tune. Pure Mingus, a worthy tribute.

(CD Daybreak Challenge Records CHR 75017) 2001 .... recorded August 12th 1977 a@ Singer Concert Hall Laren Netherlands .... this recording documents sonorous tenor sax legend Von Freeman at his peak during the late 70`s ..... outstanding Rhythm Section feat. classy (nearly forgotten) pianist John Young .... the CD reissue adds a worthy (long) track ....
