At some point down the road as finances allow, I am going to add some room acoustic treatment from Art Novion. They can produce diffusion or absorption treatment or a combination of both and do it with art work. You can go for simple colours or paintings or whatever your heart desires for a look in your room. They can also start with smaller pieces like 2'X2' I believe and you can put those up to whatever size you would like. We will probably put up enough pieces to create a single image to cover about 2/3 or 3/4 of the wall behind the TV.
Hey guys, still in the middle of the moving deal. Anyway as I was driving this beat up UHAUL truck it had a radio with working cassette deck lol. Actually used it a few times, which got me thinking. When I was in high school I was driving a 78 TransAm which came only with a stock radio. So after saving a little I installed one of these. Thought some of you might enjoy. This can be moved if not appropriate for the thread!
Great system @Don Parkhurst ! I particularly like the turntable I was just wondering... how do you like the sound with the speakers so close to the walls? Just curiosity.
I too have been considering adding an SME 20/3 or Airforce 1 to my headphone setup, its just so hard to make a decision when adding a source to my headphone system......NOT Jesus Marry and Joseph!!! You are a wild man of impeccable taste.
Yes, the silver look is honest in a no-frills way. The black and fake gold is pretentious and cheap-looking ...
My latest incarnation but not my last. I always think this is 'it' but something else manages to sneak in. My Musical Fidelity Nuvista Vinyl is out being looked at - it goes where the Jolida is. My latest additions are the curtains and the Martin Logan Grotto sub on the left as well as a Transfiguration Axis S cart on the Kenwwod KD 500. 'Fats' is also new that I bought for $10 at charity thrift store - an awesome numbered original lithograph.
I too had a '78 Trans-Am with the stock radio, I ended up putting a Sanyo auto reverse cassette deck into it, along with some external amps and better aftermarket speakers.
Good question. Any other pair of speakers that I have owned over the years have been designed to work out in the room, but these are designed to work best right in the corner. It really is nice to have that extra space in the room. As well, the system manages to image really well despite being in the corners.
I have the AN-E SPE HE, but have just bought some external crossovers that are somewhat similar to the Signature model’s external crossovers. My technician friend tells me that some of the caps are a level above the SPE Signature caps (he owns a pair of the AN E SPE HE Signatures). He built them for another customer who has since decided to go whole hog and has spent A LOT on an even better crossover. I’m getting my new crossovers at just over half price : ) Of course now I have to save up for 12 meters of SPE speaker cables to wire the speakers. That will take a while.
