I think The Guess Who still have their original drummer Gary. Nobody cares about missing Burton Cumming's vocals or Randy Bachman's guitar playing.

People only go to see the Guess Who to hear Gary's fabulous drumming from the hits live. :p ;)

The Smashing Pumpkins existed with one original member for a few years. Thankfully there's three now.

The members never got along, so they sold the naming rights to this American replacement bassist when they disbanded. There is a similar situation with War, where the drummer owns the band name and all the others are forced to tour under a different handle.

That's what Peter Noone said when there was a suit between him and the drummer who owns the rights to the name Herman's Hermits. But since Peter left and the band continued on without him, the drummer has the rights due to last man standing rules. Some of the former Animals are going forward without Eric as well. Apparently the courts considered Eric Burdon and the Animals to be a different enough name that he was deemed to have abandoned the rights to The Animals name.

Yeah, the Herman's Hermit's thing is weird also to me.

As you mention, Barry the original drummer has a Herman's Hermits band but Peter Noone has ..Herman's Hermit's Starring Peter Noone.

    Hermans Hermits | Hermans Hermits

    Herman's Hermits Starring Peter Noone

    I know which one I'd rather see.:D

Foreigner also has a tour coming up with the entire original lineup AND the latter-day lineup. Can't say Mick Jones isn't trying!

Just read about that. Apparently, Brunning was temporary as Peter Green waited on McVie to join. I think it's fair to call McVie an original. After all, he is the Mac in the name of the band!

In War's case it's the manager that owns the name, and his band has only the keyboard player. The "real" War is now the Lowrider Band.

Molly Hatchet has zero. Lots of deaths in that band.

    Blackfoot has zero as well.

Always has been. Sure, he tried to form a proper band with Marr, James Eller, and David Palmer, but’s who’s face is on the cover of Mind Bomb ?

Metlocke owns the name and guested on their new album. I wonder if he'll take back over the helm after his Skynyrd gig ends this year.

I’m aware Medlocke produces the band and, obviously, owns the name. He even plays with them occasionally. Still, he’s not a member of the band, proper.

I doubt he’ll continue to play regularly after Skynyrd finishes up. Probably show up for a gig here or there, but that’s the extent of it.

Yes has none. Anderson hasn't been with the band since 2008, when he fell ill and the others didn't wait for his recovery to start touring again. Chris Squire was the last original member. Now led by Steve Howe.

I haven't heard Doug sing in several years. He was awful the time I deliberately saw them in concert. But then he had throat surgery and seemed better when I heard them playing at a car show at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. But even that was probably ten years ago or more.

I believe it’s not a full tour but select dates on the tour. IMHO Lou Gramm is probably the most excited about this. Read where he wants to record music with Mick Jones. In his heyday Gramm was a better singer than Kelly Hanson is. Lou is not in his heyday anymore.

Technically not the full original band as bassist Ed Gagliardi died a few years ago, but 5/6 plus Rick Wills from the third album.

Mick has a group of capable musicians in the current lineup. Some fans are happy no matter who is in the band. Example Skynyrd. Others aren’t happy and complain when a key members leaves.
