Same for George with All Things Must Pass, IMO.

I considered Stink as an album, but I'll go with your choice!

I found the actual winner - that is to say that I love the debut album but this one sold 3 million copies and had 3 top 10 UK singles while the band was 21... deserved all of the sales too, not commercialized or anything really.

I always thought it was too but apparently it's an EP. I was perfectly happy saying Hootenanny but I checked Wikipedia and it says Let It Be was their 3rd album release.

The Wild, The Innocent and The E Street Shuffle is a million times better than Born To Run.

Yes, Actually I hesitated for a brief moment...
But “Damn The Torpedoes” seemed such an instant classic from first listen, from start to finish.

First one I thought of. Green River pretty much made CCR a household name in U.S., coming after their first two, definitely strong albums.

London Calling is a great album, but the debut blows it away.

Even though the first two are great albums, their third is by far the overall best for me.

Death Cab for Cutie - The Photo Album

I understand your example, but his second record might be my fave.
How about the Allman Brothers...Fillmore East was third. Or third “studio” album was Eat a Peach!

Love the first two, but this one is where the band really hit epic status.

If you count "Broken" as a second release, "The Downward Spiral" by Nine Inch Nails.
