These are four bands that I have tried to listen to but have never really quite "gotten" despite being told numerous times by others how great they are. Of everybody listed, I really like some songs by Steely Dan but have never been able to make it through one of their albums in its entirety. With The Band, despite loving The Basement Tapes stuff with Dylan I just can't get that excited about them or understand why they were (and are) so revered and influencial. I haven't given up and will probably give Big Pink another try with the upcoming anniversary set. Allman Brothers and Little Feat are probably just not my thing.

I love The Band, but I'm indifferent (at best) to the rest of 'em.

The Allman Brothers Band. Steely Dan probably has at least as much material that I enjoy, but for me they don't hit the same highs as the Allman Brothers. I like The Band's first couple albums, but I've never dug further into their music. I've never given Little Feat a serious chance, but I intend to at some point.

Steely Dan by a wide margin. I do like some of Gregg Allman's solo work, but not a big fan of the Allman Bros, and even less of a fan of the Band and Little Feat. Matter of fact, while respecting the musicianship of the latter two groups, I'm not a fan at all.

To be honest havesnt listened to much of the other to, but I like what little I heard from both. So I’ll scale them:
    3. Allman Brothers
    4. Little Feat

Enjoy Little Feat and Waiting for Columbus but like Live at Fillmore East (& Eat a Peach) more so had to go with the ABB... The Band may actually have more songs I like and The Last Waltz may be the best "final concert" footage I've seen but the Allman's may have bested it with their 40th anniversary Beacon run.

    I find Steely Dan boring.

The Band by a country mile.

Steely Dan are and always have been to me the anthesis of excitement. Some good, well crafted moments to be sure but just bleached of every bit of emotion and passion there is in great music. I like ABB and the LF a bit for sure but Steely Dan just... no.

    My sentiments exactly!

This is some stiff a$$ed competition. The Dan from 72-80, The Band from 68-76 and Feat from 70-79. ABB will always be tops for me, but the other three aren’t far behind

I love Allman Brothers Band / The Band / Little Feat

I would also rate The Marshall Tucker Band & The Amazing Rhythm Aces along with these 3.

Steely Dan is a band that I have seldom listened to. Nothing I have ever heard encourges me to listen further.
Maybe I should give them more effort as they are contsantly thrown in along with those others.

The Band, but the Allman Bros are great too. Don't really listen to Steely Dan or Littlefeat.
