The first 3 Stereolab singles comps (Switched On, Refried Ectoplasm, and Aluminum Tunes, remastered by Calyx in Berlin) are out for preorder, initial press on clear vinyl. Anyone know if they're by the group? Also, where they're being pressed? I'm hoping it's good news.

Stranded Records reports that the comps are being reissued on on Stereolab's own Duophonic label.

Anyone have an idea what sources were used?

These are on Duophonic, Tim from Stereolab’s label. He is as crazy as an audiophile as everyone on this forum. I wouldn’t worry about these sounding bad. The orginial pressing from douphonic are amazing. I except the same.

Yeah I have originals of Switched On and AT. They are great. My US Dots and Loops is incredible!

I’m sure these will be great. Tim Gane wouldn’t put them out on his label otherwise.

I’m very tempted to grab all three, even though I have the original Refried Ectoplasm on Amber coloured vinyl.

Agreed, if the Cavern of Anti-Matter vinyl pressings are anything to go by then there should be nothing to worry about!

I am in for at least one since I don't have vol 2, but might go for all 3 simce my copies are Too Pure and Drag City. The new remasters may be an improvement.

Pulled out my Drag City Aluminum Tunes and found that it uses Duophonic stampers. Similar to the DC dots and loops which also uses the UK stampers.

This sounds really good. Wonder if the reissue could ever top this.

Would love to get my Jenny Ondeline 10" EP back. Regret giving that away 10+ years ago...

Great news as Tim Gane is indeed dedicated to quality ... Stereolab has always been one of my favorites

I hope there's a reasonably steady stream of vinyl reissues on the way. Though the Elektra catalog is conspicuously absent thus far. I'm not holding my breath for those.

I don't think Duophonic holds the rights to the Elektra releases.

Which album is generally considered their best? I have none of their records but am interested in checking them out.

You might try "Dots & Loops". Or "Transient Random Noise Bursts With Announcements". Or "Mars Audiac Quintett". Then there's "Emperor Tomato Ketchup". Any of these is fine.

My personal favourites are Music for the Amorphous Body Study Center which can be found in its entirety on Aluminum Tunes and Refried Ectoplasm: Switched On Vol 2. But you will not go far wrong with any of previous suggestions. The difficulty in making suggestions is that they put out a lot of great stuff which varies stylistically but is all recognizably Stereolab.
