Well, I'm trying to decide whether to bite the bullet on this one, as it is on the short list of my favorite albums of all time.

    Where are people pre-ordering?
What's the best price out there?

Help me (and I'm sure a bunch of others!) decide what to do here!!!

  3. I ordered from the kinks to get the extra single. Yeah it’s more than some of the other places but think the price for the full package is typical of these things when quality goes in them. .

$53 is an awful lot for an extra single...

What is (and on) this extra single? Is "kinks" the only place that I can get this version? Am I gonna feel like an incomplete person without this extra single?

(Edit) Just looked up the extra single info on the Kinks.com site. I am assuming that "Time Song" is a vintage 1968 recorded track. (?) I'll have to think about going for this full (bonus) limited version.

Time Song is from 1973. The "single mix" on the bonus 7" isn't on the box but seems to be readily available in lossless flac on Qobuz.

But isn't Qobuz not an option in North America?

    TunnelBear: Secure VPN Service

Free VPN (virtual private network) that works as a Google Chrome add-on.

Set up your Qobuz account and pretend to be from the UK.

After your account is set up you can turn off the VPN and just pay with paypal whenever you wish to download something.

It's on iTunes. Sure it's not lossless but $1.29 is better than $53.

Ordered my box from Amazon UK. Total is $103 US.

I'm thinking stereo vinyl + 2cd. I already have the mono and the 3cd deluxe, so I don't see the need for the full Monty here.

I’m at the part of my life where I don’t get the point of invisible music and don’t want to know.

I think it's billed when they ship .... no?
So, isn't the conversion to USD done when they bill you? It could be more or less than $103 depending on the dollar.
For example, if I remove the 20% VAT from £94.06 = £78.38 .... the converted price today is about $100.
    Are my assumptions correct?

    You’re correct.

I’d advise anyone buying from them in the US to pay slightly more for something other than their standard shipping since, in my experience, the company they have for that (Ascendia) is terrible.

Sorry if this has been answered already but is there anything on the 2 CD version that was not on the 3 CD deluxe version?

Put my preorder in at Amazon UK. For around $100 I doubt I will do better. If so I will cancel and buy closer to home.

Yes, Amazon charges when shipped because if the price goes down between now and release day, you get the lowest price.

    Item(s) Subtotal: £78.38
    Postage & Packing: £3.08
    Total Before VAT: £81.46
    VAT: £0.00
    Total: £81.46
    Grand Total: £81.46

Of course it can change by late October depending on the dollar.
£81.46 was $103 last week and is $104 now.

But if you are in the US, ordering from Amazon UK is the cheapest way to obtain the set so far.
I doubt in the next two months, the dollar will crash to the point of it going from $104 to $150+.

“Invisible” excellently mastered (DR12) lossless download direct from the master: $2

Intentionally limited edition 7” vinyl with the same exclusive track, that may also feature pitch wow, tracking distortion, surface noise and random pops and clicks: $53

That’s the point. I’d rather spend the extra $50 on more music to enjoy, rather than a little collectable that will inevitably be filed away carefully in my wall of records, to be sold for pennies when I die.

Thanks to @fitzysbuna for pointing out that the VGPS box is now available on Amazon.com.au for $45 cheaper than JB Hi Fi (AU$190 shipped vs AU$235 shipped)

    Amazon.co.uk at £81.46 ... or AU$143 ?
Don't know what the shipping would be to Australia, or if they even ship there.

No more shipping to Australia from foreign Amazon sites, because amazon can’t be bothered collecting tax for our greedy government (yet eBay managed to work out a system very quickly)
