That is a good natural room treatment! I wish to have it, but my listening space is too big and odd shaped.

I have Klipsch Kg4’s and just re-capped the crossovers and put in titanium diaphragms for the tweeters. They sound terrific. I don’t expect to live more than a dozen or so years, so I’d say yes, these are my speakers for life.

    Agreed!

I just happened to come across this interview with Dr. Floyd Toole who retired a few years back from Harmon International. He is one of the leading speaker research guys.

    From the interview...

"In terms of room acoustics, if you start with well-designed loudspeakers, normal furnishing may be all you need. “Some audiophiles think all reflections are bad,” observes Toole, “but such rooms are oppressively dead. It turns out that a happy medium is easily achieved in normal rooms. Bookcases, lamps, tables, chairs, carpet and drapes — all of these things bring room acoustics into the range of acceptability. If you live in such a room, just buy some very good loudspeakers, hook them up, turn on your system, play something you like and enjoy it.”"

As for myself, it fit this description nicely.

If you had recapped Klipsch, it can last for your life. Good luck to you.

I would phrase the question a little bit different: "can YOUR WIFE live with your current speaker until you or SHE dies?"

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

I’m jonesing for the reissued JBL L100 Classics, don’t even know what they sound like but I can re-live my youth. I always wanted them in the seventies. My replace my Maggie surround system with two pairs in the next couple of months.

Exactly my attitude. My dealer has also told me how dead rooms can be when they visit customers obsessed with acoustic analysis and getting the room perfect. They spend so much time eliminating all the reflections they never enjoy the music, and by then time they get to it it sounds boring and lifeless.

My wife gave her blessing for me to sell enough of my stock to buy the speakers I just got, and she intended that to be for retirement. They were delivered yesterday, and last night we had pizza and wine in the listening room to hear the new speakers. Within a few seconds of hearing the beginning of first record, she noticed a dramatic difference, even thopugh she claimed in advance she wouldn't.

In addition to listening to music on the two-channel system, she also shares my other hobby with me (bicycling).

    She gets it.

P.S. thanks everyone and keep buying those iPhones. My $16K (at retail) dream speakers only cost me the last 5 months of gains in my Apple position (on an original $6K investment)

Since my speakers are "to die for", I guess the answer is yes! (sorry, couldn't resist).

If I could ever figure out how to load pictures, I would do that, but if the link below works, my speakers are the third one down in the first column from the right--very red Vapor Joules

I've got 2 sets of speakers that I'm pretty satisfied with

    Advent A3's with my turntable
Klipsch R15PM for Bluetooth on my phone

I'm happy with both. But I'm 32, so I kinda hope they don't outlive me

If you are only 32 years old, then there is room for improvement.

But as long as you like your speakers, you can keep them for your life.

My current speakers (Dali Suite 2.8) have outlived (8 years) every other pair of speakers I had, even one that cost 6 times more. I enjoy music with them and since I can't afford speakers of the same or higher cost they'll stay with me for a long time. It doesn't mean I don't want better, current dream speakers are Adam S5V and TAD-R1MK2.

Dali suite2.8 looks good enough. But it will be also nice if you can get your dream speakers in the future.
