Biggest Vinyl Bargains Still Out There

- The Alan Parsons Project - I Robot. Not my favorite album, but the sound is excellent. Parsons was famed for his production skills and it truly shows on this 1977 smash album which can be had under five bucks on both sides of the Atlantic.

- Fitzgerald/Armstrong - Ella & Louis. Found a mono 1st on Verve for six euros last summer. A true bargain considering the fine and detailed sound this gem has to offer.

- Grace Jones - Living My Life. Did you know how deep the bass on a record can go? Well, because you will after having spun this underrated classic the first time. Clear as a crystal, powerful production, a fantastic track list - and all that under 10 bucks! What's more to ask for?

- War - The World Is A Ghetto. I heard this is supposed to be an easy find in the US (it certainly wasn't in Austria, believe me!) so if you find it, get it!

- Duran Duran's first three albums (s/t; Rio; Seven and the Ragged Tiger). The drums! The synths! The vocals! Yep, it's the 80s! Get your waistband, put on some neon-colored sneakers and get ready to shake off all your worries to the mighty sound of those three classics!

 

I would recommend browsing Amazon in general. I’m amazed at some of the prices I see there on very good reissue Vinyl. The Legacy Hendrix albums have been mentioned but that’s just the start. The recent Ziggy is also about $15 there.

They also have some really low prices on selected Analog Spark and Run Out Groove titles. Maybe the best are the criminal prices on some of the Intervention Records titles. Those are just beautifully done and many are up for a steal on Amazon.

 

I've yet to buy vinyl on Amazon due to shipping and handling concerns.

Beatles purple Capitols are $12-15 and sound great, especially 'Second Album' and 'VI'.

 

If I may, I disagree with "My Favorite Things" being a good release. My copy sounds bass heavy, especially on the title track, and congested like there is no space between the instruments. I was surprised because there is a lot of praise for this here in the forum but I thought that it was terrible. My copy is also very noisy.

 

If that’s you’re concern, frankly you’re only penalizing yourself. They’re not perfect, but do a perfectly fine job 90%+ of the time in my experience - which is fairly extensive. And to be honest many s&h issues are not the fault of the seller.

Plus they have an easy return policy if there is an issue.

 

slint "spiderland". under 20 bucks and sounds phenomenal.

 

Some of the Genesis remixes can be found brand new on Insound for $14.99 each. Free shipping for orders over $25. Might be worth it if you're curious about how they sound.

 

Would that be the 20th anniversary reissue? I have the original vinyl and it's very crackly

I like the Miles Davis mono RSD/Legacy reissues I have, $20 or less, great pressing, great mastering. I have KOB, Milestones, and Round About Midnight.

I buy from Amazon but it can be hit or miss, local vintage Vinyl stores can be good get to know the owner and you'll be amazed how helpful they can be,its in their interest to look after you if they want repeat business.
Also local Vinyl Fairs are great for bargains, off to one on sunday,my tip get there early and my best finds are under the tables in carrier bags that the dealers not had time to check.
Best Amazon buy Freur Doot Doot reissue new sealed only £6.88p on prime.
Vintage vinyl store Pink Floyd WYWH second issue £5 as new condition.
Vinyl Fair mint Japanese copy David Gilmour. David Gilmour vinyl for £35,good luck to you. FC.
