The inclusion of Chicago, one of the greatest American bands ever with legendary guitarist Terry Kath (whom Jimmy Hendrix said was better than he), is a no brainer. They didn't make the HOF until just recently. Meanwhile, unknown pathetic 'rap' acts got in.
CHICAGO (1969-1977) being the Rolls Royce of Rock according to one music critic, released one of the best debut albums and sophomore albums ever and no band could touch them during their peak from 1969-1977.
    Joe Walsh has said:
"There’s a lot of politics in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The corporate sponsors get to pick [the nominees], and then the people get to vote. There’s a lot of artists, I don’t know why they’re in there and there’s a lot of people, I don’t know why they’re not.”
“It may be an honor, but it’s only an honor if it’s fan-driven. To be chosen by someone who I don’t even know who they are just to become a member of a club like that? It doesn’t really have any meaning to me. So until they change the rules or make it more fan-based, it’s not going to make or break anything we do. That’s how I feel about the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Too many great bands have not been put in or it took 10,12 nominations just to be accepted."

By the way, Joe Walsh actually helped Terry Kath's daughter Michelle to finish her film about her father. The film is called "The Terry Kath Experience."

    “Unknown pathetic ‘rap’ acts”?

Currently, only six hip-hop/rap acts have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run-DMC, the Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, N.W.A and Tupac Shakur.

Which of these artists is supposedly unknown?

Some of them are unknown in many parts of the world and many music loving people scratching their heads if I ask them about some of these rappers.

No. To my amazement, they either know their old albums or their David Foster hits from the 80's depending on the age of the person.

No sarcasm meant here, but so are John Hiatt, Loudon Wainwright, and the Roches, and I would be shocked if any of them got into the HOF.

I put Hiatt above all of them and more worthy of an induction including Prine.

quite frankly snoop dogg and eminem should be shoe-ins when the time comes

can someone explain to me smiths and morrissey and pixies not being in the frontrunners?

and why the disrespect for new wave? depeche mode has a quality catalogue of songs that outlasted yazoo and erasure - two other notable vince clarke related groups.

also vince clarke should be in special contributor or similar spot.

And WHY NOT THE MOThER EFFING B-52s?

Saw her at Knuckleheads Saloon a few weeks ago. Tragically, I doubt there were a hundred people there.

That's ridiculous. You've been all over the world asking people if they've heard of either Chicago or Public Enemy?

Far from it. You know when people meet and so happens that they are both music lovers, you talk about music, songs and different bands.

Wonder if Nicki will be displaying her....cough cough.....assets while touching herself during the ceremony performance. Wait, don't actually have to wonder. Of course she will.

I'll be shocked if Prine gets in, too. But, I'd love to see it.

I suggest saving your breath. The fellow to whom you're replying will go to his grave believing that Chicago were the greatest thing ever, including sliced bread. (Also believing that apocryphal comment from "Jimmy" Hendrix.)

    Yeah, I know...and really, that’s fine.
It just bothered me that he had to take a whizz on an entire, completely unrelated, musical genre in doing so.
