Mount Vision depict a pastoral ideal with synthesizer and piano. The mood is pleasant, serene, and faunal.
Echo & The Bunnymen's The Stars, The Oceans, & The Moon showcases fine reworkings of their biggest hits. It's certainly enjoyable for fans.
Mine just arrived last week, too. Got the earlier release on it's way now. Thanks for the tip on this. This may be a close second for me behind the Them Are Us Too release this year.
The more I'm listening to "7" the more I appreciate it. Like all Beach House albums it just keeps evolving.
Too old to have relevant opinion in relation to new records but Alejandro Escovedo The Crossing will be the best one I hear this year Over 40 years now I think he is the best rock n roller since Springsteen or The New York Dolls His last half dozen records are straight up guitar and sometimes 2 guitar 70’s rock n roll Being 67 years old makes him even more unique
I know that folks feel that drug allusions are trite, but it's so fitting in this case. "In an alternate reality, Prince takes two quaaludes, drinks a pint of vodka, and decides that what he really wants to be is Christine McVie" aka Connan Mockasin - Jassbusters
How about the new Hawkwind album, which is also redone versions of past tunes? I'm really digging that one. I didn't post about it in the thread yet because there's nothing really representative of it on youtube yet (there is one tune on youtube but it's not a good indication of the gist of the album . . . I'm hoping other stuff is posted later). Anyway, here's a bit of info about it: Cherry Red are pleased to announce the new album by the legendary Hawkwind, Road To Utopia - Cherry Red Records
I like this indy duo. Small Million. they have been described as Americana Synth Pop. They remind me of Beth Orton a bit
Spun Kurt Vile's latest last night, "Bottle It In", was very impressed. AOTY contender for me for sure.
Highly recommend checking out Art d'Ecco's Trespasser. Heard it today and absolutely loved it. Brilliant album imo.
I'm finally checking that one out now. It (pleasantly) seems like it should have been one of the best albums of 1971.
I always look forward to a new Bottle Rockets album. They don’t necessarily hit homers anymore but they still hit solid doubles every time out.
Great album...almost done my first listen and loving it. His album with Courtney didn’t do much for me for some reason but this one grabbed me right away.
Lucero’s “Among The Ghosts” is another favorite of mine from this year. This is one of my favorite tunes from the record
