Some of the Jethro Toe tracks might exist only as vinyl records, with no surviving master tapes. I seem to recall that at least one such track on the 20th anniversary box was a needledrop, either from an acetate or a commercial single.

 

On another forum (Progressive Ears) a user has posted some photos from a promo copy. Apparently "Ultimate Confusion" was recorded in mono (one track from the four-track tape) which may explain why it has been overlooked in past reissues.

This thread is now over 2 years old, and I guess I deliberately left the title oblique when I created it. Won't make that mistake again!

 

Nothing against you, I’m just always surprised the gorts don’t revise the titles once there’s more definitive information released.

I've long wondered about the aside at the end of "A Christmas Song". Most people hear it as "Hey...Santa...", I've always heard it as "Hey...Censor...", which is also in the critical spirit of the song. Anyone have the official quote?

 

It's Santa. There's a place on the Christmas album (can't remember where) when Ian A. says "Hey Santa...No wait, we've done that one."

 

Oh, what could have been...

 

Thankfully not a problem. No remix and the outtakes dont really tempt me so I can pass on that one.

 

It's the Blackpool accent. If you've heard it before, it definitely translates as, "Hey Santa..."

 

The "oh, no, we've done that one" quip is on Nightcap, at the end of "Rosa on the Factory Floor."

 

Bull Moose has the This Was 50th Anniversary set for $38.97. I had the set preordered from Amazon UK for slightly less but will grab it from Bull Moose on the day of release.

You're leaving out the $2.99 shipping and $2.14 6% sales tax (in Maine) for a total of $37.84. That's $1.13 cheaper than Bull Moose but I'd rather buy locally (in NH so no sales tax) and avoid importcds' dicey packaging.

My wallet is more local than anything else. So I support it by buying from the cheapest place.
