Strange that the DVD doesn't appear to include the promo film for "Legend of a Mind." That's one of a few vintage promos that didn't make it onto the gigantic box set a few years back.

it's been a crazy release season. i'm holding my breath hoping that nothing else I really want gets released, because I've stretched as far as I can for now

Looking forward to reading reactions. Won't receive mine for a couple more weeks despite the release date.

Don’t have a 5.1 system but I’ll just review the stereo remix for now.

A conservative mix. Think along the lines of Steven Wilson coming by and adding clarity to a mix we all know and love. I personally really like it, though not as much as my original UK record.

I did too, but honestly I’m happy they didn’t. The mixes themselves are not bad and really iconic in my opinion. They just cleaned up the murk but still retain the Moodies magic.

My copy arrived today. I'm enjoying the 5.1 mix. Some it sounds discrete, other tracks (Legend Of A Mind specifically) sound like they could be an upmix. There is a credit in the book that states "5.1 mixes and manipulations by Jakko Jakszyk". Some tracks really bring out the vocals in a way that makes it sound like the multis were utilized. Unfortunately, there is no mention of the particulars of the 5.1 or stereo remixes in the book apart from what I quoted above.

damn, the LP reissue will be the original mix?
What's the point of reissuing the same mix over and over? I would have bought the new LP if it was the remix.
Even the 1Cd version is just the original mix and some bonus tracks.

You think they should replace the original mix with the remix?

they reissued the original mix on friday music in "audiophile" quality in 2014.
plus the original mix is also available used.

actually: i thought they reissued it this year as well but it was A Question Of Balance: 1 LP
On The Threshold of a Dream: 1 LP
    Octave: 1 LP
    Seventh Sojourn: 1LP
    To Our Children’s Children’s Children: 1LP
Every Good Boy Deserves Favour: 1LP
Long Distance Voyager: 1LP....no search of the lost chord.

Still, the point is the original mix is pretty readily available.

WOW! Guys, this is teriffic! I just preordered the deluxe CD/DVD set from importcds. They are offering it for $48.56. I don't have a surround sound system, but I'm certain I'll be thrilled with the other goodies in it. I have the MFSL edition too, which is great. I had the deluxe edition that came out several years ago, but I was disappointed with the level of compression used on it. It's odd that the second CD of that set doesn't have excessive compression. Anyway, I'm excited!

They found tracks that allowed them to go to the pre-bounce stages... i.e more tracks to work with.

According to QuadraphonicQuad the pre-bounce theory is only speculation. Even if true its still a little sparse for 5.1.

Ah. Might explain why the new stereo mix was conservative. Either way, happy it was done!

There’s two threads on this topic
Other thread also notes that the remix is not drastic.

Initial QQ reports are that most of the surround is "Penteo-like" (upmix). I don't have mine yet, but will report once I get it. I can't say that I'm surprised as it would have been very unusual for them to go back and create a real 5.1 mix from the multi's here in 2018 when they'd never done it before, esp when the SACD series came out 15 years ago.
