Hopefully these rehearsals mean he's getting ready to add "I Don't Know" to the setlist in Europe & UK.
Like 'Friends To Go', 'Sun Is Shining', 'Alligator'... We should know better by now . One song left of 'Egypt Station' by the time he continues the US leg in 2019.
It is such a shame because the three songs you mention and 'I Don't Know' would all suit his current vocal range so much more than something like 'Maybe I'm Amazed', leading to less embarrassing vocal moments each concert. If he incorporated 10 more solo songs, and changed the keys on some of the Wings and Beatles tracks, the shows would be much more pleasing vocally IMO.
But that was a festival set, him not including 'Yesterday' at the festivals started in 2015, it leaves the festival crowd wanting more. But this is the first time he's skipping it during regular arena shows.
If you check this video (at the 1-minute mark) you can argue that he did play "Back In Brazil" during the Japanese tour: (just like you can argue that he played "The Back Seat Of My Car" last year in Mexico): Paul McCartney - The back seat of my car (LIVE MEXICO 2017)
Maybe the guy who got to see him sing You Gave Me the Answer, Magneto and Titanium Man, Beware My Love and Soily in full quality voice for pennies should pipe down about people paying 100x as much grumbling over sitting through sort-of Can't Buy Me Love for the 10th time? (Yeah, I'm bitter and jealous and all that. But I'm also very comparatively young So there's that. But Glenn saw the concert of a lifetime.)
Well back in 72 when I witnessed Paul for the first time he belted out the Mess, Soily, Dear Friend, Wild Life, Maybe I’m amazed and Hi,,Hi,Hi. Long Tall Sally to Little could one at that time Imagine the man still would be touring 2018 soon 77 years old To complain about set-lists or vocal-contionions must be seen in that perpestective Soon this will be all over and people will look back to Pauls touring days with nostalgica and awe Besides anything else Paul certanely is one of the greatest live-artists and entertainers ever To quote Pauls od friend John You don t know what you got Until you lose it
Well Frank, um, yes I did. I’m sort of sorry it leaves a burning sensation in the pit of your stomach, sort of. Guilty as charged . Pepper, it’s none of your business which direction my pipe is facing.
I also feel slightly envious you catched the WOA tour. The 72 Wings gig was a blast but one can not argue that the set list had improved slightly. Both events catched our man at the very height of vocal-power though. Also-the 72 gig-rough as it was still is one of the greatest rock n roll experiences of my life. There are a few others I cheerish just as much -Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, the Clash, Bob Marley(not exactley rock), the Clash and some more but the 72 Wings concert is up there Sweet memories
Anyone have pics or info on any possible Freshen Up/Egypt Station tour merch that's available only at the shows?
Yes, seeing Paul live in 1972 must have been cool also. Can we agree though that it’s wonderful that Frank and Dr. Pepper didn’t see him in either year ? Yes? Thanks!
But how many people can say there were in the audience for the exact performance where Maybe I'm Amazed actually transitioned to an unlistenable concert staple mid-song? This guy right here is one! It started as indiscernible from his 70s performances and made it all the way to 2018 right before these two eyes and ears!
Not bad On the other hand I was here. Talk about peak. The 72 Maybe Im amazed is imo even better than the WOA one Paul Mc Cartney and Wings Maybe I'm amazed live 1972
Yes, that was pretty rough. Thought: At the beginning of Wings Paul made the bold decision that he didn’t want to sound like a Beatle anymore . Maybe right before his concert that you attended he made the bold decision that he didn’t want to sound like Paul McCartney anymore ?
