I bought this box almost ten years ago. How do you like the box so far?

I have his Bruckner 7th, which is an SACD as well and unfortunately picked up a duplicate by mistake ...

Not sure if I really meant to order Symphony 8 but decided not to ship it back across the Atlantic. :sigh:

This one is at the top of my list of favorite quartet recordings. The Schoenberg players produce a sound with a warmth and richness of tone that I haven't heard matched. And these are great pieces as well. I particularly like the Szymanowski works. In fact everything I've heard by this composer is superb!

I'll have to check out his 7th on Spotify. If it's as good as his 8th, that will be another purchase for me.

Rudolf Firkusny was an amazing pianist! He studied with Janacek from the age of five.

He plays well, but the sound is very close and dry.

What a great double. No wonder Keith Emerson adored his piano works.

Current ‘too many chores around the house that I’ve let build up’ listening.

I always seem to put this on when pottering about the the house. Don’t think I’ll ever tire of it.

CD from the first Living Presence box. This is the finest version of Symphonie Fantastique I've ever heard.

The Szell box should be arriving today! :bdance:

Madrigals Book 8 Madrigali guerrieri et amorosi Delitiæ Musicæ, Marco Longhini

Spending the morning with this 4 cd set which I highly recommend to admirers of Monteverdi. It's a late work from the composer that includes all the madrigals and the 48 minute Ballo delle ingrate, which comprises all of disc four. Beautifully rendered and nicely priced. :)
