From the Wally Heider photo gallery:

I love this picture of SH Forum member Russ Gary doing his thing (recording PENDULUM). Photo by legendary Jim Marshall with his Leica M4.

I think the console is the famous Demedeio console, with (basically) Bill Putnam designed Universal Audio components. In the background I see two Universal Audio 1176 "blue stripe" limiters and a bunch of UA 500 passive EQ's (both same like I got :) ) That's a 3M multi-track with some Ampex two tracks next to it.. See the buttons on the console (above Russ' left hand and spread out?) Those choose what track that mic will be on. Looks like there are only eight choices for eight tracks. Maybe they re-patched to use the second "8" on the 16 track if needed. Maybe they could only record 8 at a time in those days even thought they had a 16 track recorder?

Russ is one of the nicest guys on the planet.

Any of you have favorite "studio" shots? Can you post them here?

Always loved these two shots of John Lennon at EMI during "Pepper".

Looks like you couldn't do anything without a tie on in 1967. Even if you were in the Beatles.

Many consoles utilize the PAN pot (or just an additional switch) with the buss section. If that were the case with this console, then you'd select the first button, then move the pan pot to the left to buss to track 1 on the tape machine. Go to the right and it's bussed to track 2. Anybody know if that's how this board was setup?

    ELVIS!

I have always liked the early studio pictures of Elvis.

Maybe Steve or someone else can comment on the equipment there.

I am guessing the bottom equipment is at Sun and the top pics of Elvis( except the first one at Sun?) are at Nashville?

Since these two studios have already been mentioned, I thought some exterior shots might be fun.
    At TTG I believe.

First shot shows both Sunset-Highland (TTG) and Sunset Sound. The sign for Sunset Sound can barely be seen in the second image. The third shows a closer view of that entrance.

Anyone know where this shot was taken? Van Gelder, New Jersey? A&R, New York?:

That's not Van Gelder Studio. Looks like Bell Sound or Beltone. Definitely NOT A&R.

Yeah, I am asking where the picture of Creed was taken. Steve has ruled out Van Gelder Studio in Englewood, New Jersey and A&R in New York......

Wow, look how young he looks! When was that taken? He has to be barely 20 in that picture. Am I right?
