Just wondering what members think are the better performances and sounds on the Japanese CDs.

I was really impressed by Emotional Rescue :shh: which I picked up from Wardybonk, a superb seller.

What else is worth buying beside the DSOTM CDs?

    What are your favorites?

    Thanks. :)

The original Japanese Sony issue of ELO's No Answer is the best I've heard that album sound on CD.

The Japanese Pastmasters CD of Wild Honey by The Beach Boys is great.

The Toshiba-EMI CDs of Roy Wood's Boulders and The Move's Message From The Country from 1991 are the best I've heard.

I bought a bunch of miniLP CDs from Japan from Red Trumpet back in the 90s. Some were bright but otherwise good sound.

Good thread. I really like the Japanese P58P version of Eat a Peach.

Another winner is the VDP issue of Stevie Wonder Talking Book. I just got the disc a few days ago and have not yet compared it to the original U.S. issue, but it sounds very, very good.

All the VDP Wonder disc sound good. I like Wonder's vocal on the VDP "Innervisions" and the MoFi for his keyboard sonics. I chose his singing over his playing and have the VDP in my collection. But that's just me...

I have far too many to name, so here are a dozen:

    Jackson Browne - The Pretender - 32XD

    Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited - 30DP

Eagles - Their Greatest Hits - 32XD (mastered by Barry Diament)

Eagles - Hotel California - 32XD (mastered by Barry Diament)

Doobie Brothers - The Best Of The Doobie Brothers - 32XD

Al Green - Best Of Al Green - VDP

Joni Mitchell - Blue - 20P2 (I like her vocal on this one)

    Queen - A Night At The Opera - CP32

Leon Russell - Best Of Leon Russell - A Song For You - 32DP (came with a box obi which I threw in the garbage because box obis get in the way)

    Steely Dan - Aja - 32XD

    10CC - Original Soundtrack - 33PD (2-fer with "Deceptive Bends")

    The Who - Who's Next - P33P

I love my Japan Threshold Seventh Sojourn by the Moodies; also my Toshiba Revolver, which sounds .000001% better than the U.S. one!

The original Japanese release of Yes' Tormato is outstanding. Also Chris Squire's solo album Fish Out of Water.

The Japanese DSD remasters of Miles Davis' Agharta and Pangaea. As good (better?) than the original vinyl sounds, and miles better (pun intended) than the other released CD versions.

My "Abbey Road" black triangle, of course - the first is always the best!

  23. I have the Toshiba AR.

'All Things Must Pass' sounds decent w/o NR on the Japanese.

Most of my Jpn pressings are vinyl though.

  24. for me it's MFSL Dark Side
then goes Sheer Heart Attack CP32 (or Sabotage 23PD?)
    I hate these queries!

Don't have many Japanese pressings (aside from DCC's ) but a good one I have is: Blue Ridge Rangers. John Fogerty's first solo effort (like McCartney's first), a one man band.
