Is there a difference (sonically or otherwise) between the EP mono collection box issued in the UK vs the Japanese mono box with red wax vinyl?

I bought a few back in the day, they (the ones from Odeon) all were fold-downs from the stereo mixes.

I was very disappointed when I actually played a Japanese set and discovered the fold-downs...

The Japanese set certainly **looks** cool, though! :)

So the Japanese ones are fold down mono.

Also, the Odeon EPs played at 33 1/3 rpm.

The Japanese EP Collection Box (from '82?) with red vinyl has fold-down mixes from stereo. Avoid. Beautiful, first-rate quality, dead quiet Japanese vinyl with extra-lame messed up sound.:thumbsdn:

Don't know about the original Japan released mono EPs...I have heard many of the early 70s stereo EP issues (some unique to Japan). I thought those sounded quite good.

The only exception to that is Magical Myster Tour; actually the real mono mixes.

I did not know that. Checked my MMT copy in my EP box and it is in stereo.

I'm pretty sure that the UK box always had the 'bonus' stereo EP and MMT in stereo.

Thanks for the correction. I started to hunt on ebay for that mono version of MMT. Now I am happy with what I have.

There is a mono MMT EP, but it was not put out with the EP box.

As I said above, it was in fact available (in true mono) in the Japanese red wax mono EP box.

It is also availabe on on the CD EP box.

Was there another set of Japanese red wax Beatles mono releases? I'm listening now to a wave file of an alleged vinyl rip from a Japanese red wax mono Revolver, and the mono variations in the songs are present.

The LPs were true mono. The EPs were folddowns.
