The Wikipedia entry for this song mentions that three songs can be heard in the introduction when the radio is scanning through different stations:

    "Foolish Games," Jewel
    "You Got It," Roy Orbison
    "Vogue," Madonna

I was always able to hear Madonna at about the 6.5 second mark, and I just made out what sounds like the "Anything you want..." chorus from "You Got It" at about the 1.5 second mark.

I don't hear Jewel, though. Anyone?

I don't know about the intro, but the whole song sounds similar to Besame Mucho to me.

It's funny, the Jewel bit was the only part I was ever able to pick out. It's pretty loud in the mix/collage. I never had any clue as to the others.

    Where exactly in the intro?

What bothers me: the song is a ripoff of "Besame Mucho!"

Please, similar yes. A ripoff? I don't think so...

    But then again I'm biased...

I'll concede that "ripoff" was a bit strong. Not trying to start a fight! :)

Having said that, there are some spots in the verse where one really reminds me of the other, and has since the very first time I heard THE WAY. Have a listen here, with Fastball in the left channel, Beatles in the right:

DCW been a-boogeyin' since I ditched the stroller.

Tony Scalzo always freely admitted that "Besame Mucho" was his musical inspiration for writing "The Way". I'm fond of both songs.
