I just got the email that this is now available. Why is it $40 though?

Another originally great-sounding recording gets the audiophile "treatment." When they take a really lousy recording and make it great, that's when I'll be impressed.

That would be fine, S/T would be a must have as well.

IMO that is the way the songs were supposed to sound I would not want that one "polished up" myself.

John Buchanan I'm just a headphone kind of fellow. Stax Sigma

Ahhhhhh hahahaha - not possible without a remix IMHO. Even first issue UK vinyl wasn't good.

Since it is a live album I would be much more excited if they had given it a surround treatment and released it as an SACD. Even in stereo I would be much more interested in an SACD. I don't understand why they don't release all of these as a hybrid disc.

Maybe there was no multi-track or audience microphones?

Maybe the studio was asking too much for SACD rights? Shame for all the Little Feat MOFI's they are not SACD's. The others do sound good and I'm looking forward to picking up this one.

Off topic, but isn't it weird that Dixie Chicken was the only title in the Feat series to have the black cover with artwork in the middle?

You might be right but I still think it is a awful sounding album.

  15. Don't know about the multi's but there was some overdubbing done on some tracks IIRC. It was done tastefully though so perhaps that all plays a part in this.

So it sounds like this replicates the original LP configuration without the Rhino bonus tacks that were ported over from other releases as well as some of the previously unreleased tracks.

I kind of wanted to see the Rhino version given the audiophile treatment.

Just wonder if Lee Herschberg has ever made a quadraphonic recording in the 70s?

I have the original MFSL vinyl pressing of this classic album and it still shines.

there was a LOT of overdubbing, IIRC. Guitar and vocals for the most part.

  19. According to the liner notes of the 2002 reissue most of the overdubs are vocals, which weren't that well recorded. Richie Hayward fixed a drum part as well. Can't remember reading about any guitar overdubs.

I've grown to really prefer the track order on the 2002. It flows much better....

I can't seem to find this information. Was Lowell George still with Little Feat when Waiting for Columbus was recorded or had he already left the band? If so, is this still an excellent live album w/o Lowell George?

Buy this record. Do yourself a favour. Play it loud. Dance to the music. Get the funk. You'll be a Feat fanatic at the end of Fat Man in The Bathub. First song, Side one.
