It is great and Gene is SO uncomfortable. The "tell me about it" quip by Ace is hysterical. He's laughing like a madman...

There's a point (1.5 drinks for me) where alcohol is fun and brings out the best in some people, but Ace just sounds whiney and petulant here.

Must be an old interview. Usually Gene only wants to discuss the meaning of money.

Gene should have come out with Kiss alcohol, then he could have made money off of drunk Ace. :D

Anyone here read that book by Ace's former assistant? If even half of what she wrote is true...

Loved this interview! Ace "aced" the interview in terms of shear entertainment value. In fact, Gene's seriousness in contrast to Ace's buzzed mayhem made it entertainment gold. Probably not what Gene intended. Add to it, Snyder's characteristic cluelessness and this one goes down in the books as one of the best rock and roll TV interviews.

The commentary track on this interview on Kissology vol. 2 is interesting. Gene admits some things about himself and Ace (regarding this interview).

If memory serves me correctly the segment is in Kissology Volume 2.

I always thought that this was the only good thing to ever come out of KISS. Fun interview, on par with Snyder's interview with Public Image Ltd.

Boy, Ace drunk? I am sure he's very embarrassed about that interview now. Of all the nights to pick to have a drink or two too many. Life is like that: Sometimes you step over the line ONE TIME and it's the time that's saved for posterity. Oh well.

During this interview on the Kissology commentary, Gene summarizes it by saying (loosely) "There was a grumpy old man who sticks his tongue out and a bombed guitar player." He and Paul go into more candid detail about it and admit that Ace was the star of the interview, but in reality they were terrified that a drunk Ace could blow an opportunity for the whole band with his unpredictability. I love the interview, but I wouldn't want that guy in my band, because I've been in bands with guys like that. It's more of a burden than you could ever imagine unless you've been through it.
