Our local Borders location is now housing a TJ Maxx. The Borders at Stonestown Galleria in SF is Ode Books.

The one by me turned into a BAM

    http://www.booksamillion.com/

On the inside, it's a lot like Borders, but not as good. More disorganized, more limited selection, and more random crap.

A couple of the local Borders are now Vintage Stock/V-Stock which sells used CDs, movies, books etc. One is about to become a Michael's (craft/hobby store).

  13. The one in Southcenter Mall near Seattle, strangely enough, seems to have become a fundamentalist church.

The one in our neck of the woods is now a Books A Million too. To me it's pretty much like Borders was and they carry some new vinyl as well.

The Borders in our downtown moved to a bigger building a few years ago. Both are still empty.

Nope, the one I would go to all the time still has the Borders sign and some "Everything must go!" posters in the windows.

  18. The Borders at 3rd & King Streets across the street from AT&T Park here in San Francisco has become a huge bowling alley/bar & grill, co-owned by one of the Giants' star pitchers, Brian Wilson...it's called "Lucky Strikes"!!!

    Do Halloween stores count? ;)
Here in the North Bay we have the ironically named Santa Rosa Town Center (conveniently located 1.5 miles from the actual town center) that has two HUGE gaping holes where Borders and Circuit City used to be. The only thing that has filled them so far is seasonal Spirit Halloween stores. Ironic in and of itself.

Crown Books moved into the space w/a bunch of cut-out crap in the mall across the street.

Around here, I think about half of the old Borders stores are now something else. One became 2nd and Charles, so it stayed a book store. Another will soon be a drug store.. Not sure about others...
